FSIS said the products were shipped to retail and institutional locations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. If you have a potentially affected item, do not eat it; check the official alert’s labels, then discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
What prompted the alert?
FSIS said an establishment notified the agency that cilantro used in the products had been recalled for foreign material. The cilantro is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration; the possible contaminant identified in the FSIS notice is wood. The alert concerns various soups and bowls made with that ingredient.
FSIS identified shipments to retail and institutional locations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. The notice said additional products could be added, potentially resulting in nationwide impacts; it did not establish that the products covered by the alert had been distributed nationwide.
How to check whether your product is affected
Use the product labels linked from the official FSIS alert to compare your package. Check the product name, package size, and any lot or date details shown on the labels. Do not rely on a product’s general description or assume that every soup or bowl containing cilantro is included.
