UPSC recommended 55 candidates from the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2024 reserve list—not 46. The Commission’s press note is dated 12 June 2026; the UPSC examination page lists the reserve-list document as uploaded on 15 June 2026.

How many candidates did UPSC recommend from the CAPF 2024 reserve list?

The official UPSC notice says 55 reserve-list candidates were recommended to fill remaining posts. The category breakdown is:

Category Reserve-list recommendations
General 27
EWS 1
OBC 26
SC 1
ST 0
Total 55

These figures are the recommendations made from the reserve list, not the total size of the reserve-list pool. The UPSC CAPF 2024 examination page provides the official listing; the 12 June 2026 press note gives the count and category totals.

Why are some reports saying 46 candidates?

The 46 figure is associated with coverage of the CAPF AC 2023 reserve list, not the official CAPF 2024 notice. For the 2024 examination, UPSC’s own press note states 55 recommendations. Do not use 46 as the 2024 reserve-list count.

What do 55, 110 and four candidates refer to?

The UPSC notice distinguishes three separate figures that should not be added together or treated as interchangeable:

  • 55: Candidates newly recommended from the reserve list to fill remaining posts.
  • 110: Candidates in the revised consolidated reserve-list pool. UPSC says this pool was revised from 112 after one OBC candidate’s category change; its composition is 55 General, 12 EWS, 36 OBC, 3 SC and 4 ST.
  • Four: Candidates separately recommended in compliance with a Delhi High Court judgment dated 10 December 2025. These are not part of the 55 reserve-list recommendations described above.

The June 2026 notice also says the original CAPF 2024 result was declared on 13 June 2025, recommending 459 candidates. That original-result figure is distinct from both the revised reserve-list pool and the 55 later reserve-list recommendations. The original-result cutoff notice reported 446 non-ex-servicemen recommendations and a reserve list of 112; the later notice explains the revision to the consolidated pool.

Does a reserve-list recommendation guarantee appointment?

No. UPSC says the Ministry of Home Affairs will contact the 55 reserve-list candidates directly. The notice also makes final selection and/or appointment subject to the outcome of specified pending court proceedings; one candidate’s selection or appointment is subject to another pending matter. Twelve candidatures are provisional. A recommendation therefore should not be read as an unconditional completed appointment.

Where can candidates check the official CAPF 2024 reserve list?

Use UPSC’s CAPF (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2024 page to locate the reserve-list PDF. The examination was held on 4 August 2024. UPSC’s page records the document upload date as 15 June 2026, while the press note itself is dated 12 June 2026. Candidates included in the recommendations should follow the Ministry of Home Affairs’ direct communication.
