UPL and AgBiTech first announced a distribution partnership on May 10, 2022, for California, Arizona, and Hawaii, naming the biological insecticides Heligen and Fawligen. In February 2023, UPL announced that the arrangement had expanded to cover AgBiTech’s entire portfolio across the United States. AgBiTech’s current U.S. contact page says UPL is its exclusive U.S. sales channel.
How the partnership expanded
May 2022: an initial Western U.S. agreement
The original announcement described distribution through UPL’s Natural Plant Protection (NPP) business unit in California, Arizona, and Hawaii. It named two products: Heligen, aimed at Helicoverpa-related pests, and Fawligen, aimed at fall armyworm. UPL’s May 10, 2022 announcement reported that AgBiTech had treated 8.5 million acres of row crops in 2021; that is a company-reported historical figure, not an independently verified acreage estimate.
February 2023: U.S.-wide portfolio distribution
UPL’s February 22, 2023 announcement said distribution had expanded to AgBiTech’s entire portfolio in the United States. The five products named were Heligen, Fawligen, Lepigen, Chrysogen, and Surtivo. This later U.S.-wide scope is distinct from the three-state geography in the original announcement.
What the two original products target
Heligen and Fawligen are commercial agricultural insecticides, not household pest-control products. Their targets differ, so they should not be treated as interchangeable. AgBiTech describes Heligen as a suspension-concentrate biological insecticide for Helicoverpa pests, including corn earworm and tobacco budworm. It describes Fawligen as a suspension-concentrate product using Spodoptera frugiperda multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus for fall armyworm.

What growers should check before use
AgBiTech’s product information emphasizes label-led application and factors that can affect performance. Use those points as prompts for reviewing the current label and getting technical advice, not as substitutes for the label.
- Crop and target: Confirm that the current label covers the crop, pest, and location involved.
- Larval stage and timing: AgBiTech emphasizes treating small larvae early. Follow the label’s directions for timing and pest stage.
- Coverage and ingestion: The company says the active material must be ingested and stresses thorough crop coverage. Consult the label for application instructions suited to the crop and equipment.
- Spray-mixture pH: AgBiTech cautions that a spray mixture with pH above 8 may damage the virus. Verify current label guidance and seek technical support on water quality and tank mixtures.
- Storage and handling: Use the product’s current label and safety data sheet for storage, handling, and protective measures.
Where U.S. customers can ask about availability
AgBiTech’s U.S. contact page says its products are sold exclusively by UPL in the USA and directs customers to UPL representatives. Contact a representative for current availability, product documentation, and agronomic or technical questions. Product registration, labels, and supply can change, so confirm details for the intended use and location.
