The newer development news is about Dunreath Green, a separate precinct beside the existing retail hub—not a new Costco opening.
When did the Perth Airport Costco open?
Costco’s official Perth Airport warehouse listing records its opening date as 19 March 2020. The headline that Costco is about to “land” at the airport is therefore outdated if read as a current announcement.
Where is the warehouse, and what is Dunreath Green?
The warehouse is part of the established Dunreath Drive retail hub, which Perth Airport says also includes DFO. In its 23 July 2026 announcement, the airport described the hub as attracting four million visitors annually; that is the airport’s published figure, not a separately identified audited count. Perth Airport’s Dunreath Green announcement places the precinct on Dunreath Drive and Tonkin Highway, about 15 minutes from Perth CBD.
Dunreath Green is a separate 26-hectare greenfield precinct planned for retail, lifestyle and entertainment. Perth Airport and Skyfields describe it as adjacent to the existing retail hub. The airport’s 2025 announcement reported that site preparation had commenced; in July 2026, it said work had begun on the next major development phase. Those milestones refer to Dunreath Green, not the Costco warehouse. The 2025 precinct announcement describes the planned large-format retail, entertainment and lifestyle uses.

Perth Airport explains that it prepares Major Development Plans for major developments on the leased federal airport. Its Major Development Plans page records approval of the Site 6: Large Format Retail Outlet plan on 13 November 2018.
Is the Alkimos Costco the same store?
No. The proposed Alkimos location is a separate northern Perth Costco story. It is not the Perth Airport warehouse, which is already open, or the existing Casuarina location. PerthNow’s report on the Alkimos proposal concerns that distinct site.
