Ofcom fined 8579 LLC £1.35 million for failing to use highly effective age assurance on an adult service. It imposed a separate £50,000 penalty because the company did not respond to a legally binding information request. Ofcom also ordered age assurance on justpornflix.com, with conditional daily penalties if the company failed to meet the stated requirements.
Why did Ofcom fine 8579 LLC?
Ofcom announced its decision on 23 February 2026. The £1.35 million penalty was for failing to meet the age-assurance requirement; the additional £50,000 was for failing to answer an information request. These were separate failures and separate penalties. Ofcom’s announcement describes the decision.
The regulator’s enforcement record says the section 12 failure began on 25 July 2025 and was ongoing in relation to one of the services operated by 8579 LLC. It also records the order to introduce highly effective age assurance on justpornflix.com.
What are the UK’s rules for porn-site age checks?
Under section 12 of the Online Safety Act 2023, services that allow pornographic material must use “highly effective age assurance” to prevent children in the UK from readily accessing it. Ofcom’s decision identifies the failure in this case as a breach of that duty. The requirement is about preventing children’s access; the case record does not specify a single mandatory age-check technology.

What did Ofcom require the company to do?
Introduce age assurance
Ofcom required 8579 LLC to implement highly effective age assurance on justpornflix.com by 5pm GMT on 23 February 2026. Under the decision’s stated conditions, a £1,000 daily penalty could accrue until the company complied or 3 June 2026, whichever came first.
Respond to the information request
For the separate failure under section 102(8) of the Act, Ofcom required the company to provide a complete list of all pornographic sites it operated. Under the stated conditions, a £250 daily penalty could accrue until it complied or 22 April 2026, whichever came first.

The daily amounts were conditional penalties attached to the requirements, not additional fixed fines. Ofcom’s decision sets out the deadlines and conditions; the available record does not establish whether the company later complied, paid the penalties, or appealed.

The decision shows that Ofcom can impose a substantial penalty for failing to meet the age-assurance duty and a separate penalty for ignoring a legally binding information request. It applies to this enforcement case; the stated amounts and conditions should not be treated as an industry-wide total or as evidence of how many other services comply. Ofcom’s Director of Enforcement, George Lusty, said adult sites must deploy robust age checks to protect children in the UK and that sites that fail to do so, or ignore legally binding requests, should expect fines.
