Those civil claims remain allegations, and the available reporting does not establish their current outcomes. Since then, CaaStle filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and its founder and former CEO Christine Hunsicker pleaded guilty to securities fraud and was sentenced to prison.
What CaaStle did
According to the SEC’s account in its civil complaint, CaaStle began as Gwynnie Bee, a direct-to-consumer clothing-rental subscription service focused on plus-size women’s apparel. It later shifted to a business-to-business technology and logistics model, helping apparel brands and retailers offer rental subscriptions with an option to buy. The company’s services included technology and analytics, shipping, garment care, and customer service.
What were the two CaaStle lawsuits?
The two suits in the April 29, 2025 report involved different plaintiffs and different disputes. P180’s claims concerned alleged financial misrepresentations and resulting investment losses; EXP Topco’s claims concerned alleged breaches of agreements. Neither suit was a criminal prosecution.

CaaStle disputed P180’s claims. In a statement to Axios reproduced in its April 29, 2025 newsletter, the company said: “We take issue with some key factual assertions made by P180, we believe the claims are without merit and look forward to vigorously defending our position.”

What was the reported revenue discrepancy?
Axios reported that prospective investors had been told CaaStle generated $519 million in revenue in 2023, while audited financials sent to shareholders showed $15.7 million for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2023. The figures describe different representations in Axios’s reporting: the first was the amount prospective investors were reportedly told, and the second was the audited amount for a fiscal year with that specific end date. They help explain the scale of the allegations but do not, by themselves, establish what occurred or resolve either civil suit.
What happened after the April 2025 lawsuits?
- June 20, 2025: CaaStle filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition.
- July 18, 2025: The SEC filed a civil complaint against Hunsicker. The regulator alleged she distributed materially false financial statements and other documents to investors. Those statements were allegations in the complaint.
- March 4, 2026: Federal prosecutors announced that Hunsicker pleaded guilty to one count of securities fraud.
- August 20, 2026: The Department of Justice reported that Hunsicker was sentenced to five years in prison. DOJ also reported court orders for $283,291,940 in forfeiture and $283,291,940 in restitution.
The guilty plea and sentence mark later developments in the federal securities-fraud case. They do not, on their own, establish that every allegation by P180 or EXP Topco was true.

Are the P180 and EXP Topco cases resolved?
The available reporting does not establish the current disposition of either suit. A September 2026 Southern District of New York opinion describes a separate investor action involving people who invested in a special-purpose vehicle formed to invest in CaaStle. It discusses fraud-related claims against CaaStle-related individuals and others, a bankruptcy-related stay, and arbitration proceedings; it is not either suit named in the April 2025 headline.
A separate Northern District of California docket entry lists a stockholder suit by KSV CaaStle Holdings against John Hennessy and Scott Callon. The docket page says the case was removed from Santa Clara County Superior Court on September 8, 2026, and cautions that its retrieved docket may not be current. That entry alone does not establish the merits or outcome of the suit.
