The most expensive single-portion hamburger recognized by Guinness World Records is The Golden Boy, sold for €5,000 at The Daltons in the Netherlands on 28 June 2021. Asador Aupa, meanwhile, advertises a €9,450 burger called SUA—but describes it as invitation-only, and that price is not a Guinness-certified record. Those two figures answer different questions: one is a dated record achievement; the other is a restaurant’s stated price with access and current availability unclear.
There is no well-supported, definitive ranking of the ten most expensive burgers currently orderable worldwide. The list below is therefore a curated comparison of reported prices, including historical and secondary-source examples—not a claim that all ten are available now or directly comparable. Prices and menu status should be confirmed with venues before making plans.
How the ranking works—and what it does not prove
The clearest benchmark is Guinness World Records’ record for a single-portion hamburger. For the rest, this article uses prices reported by a 2025 Cozymeal guide, which includes historical items and does not independently establish that every burger remains on sale. The guide’s headline says “2026,” but its publication date is 21 February 2025.
The figures are not a like-for-like price survey: some may depend on sides, and the sources do not consistently establish what each price includes, whether the item is currently orderable, or what restrictions apply. The order below follows reported price, not a verified current menu comparison. Guinness also warns that records may change before its online pages are updated.

The Golden Boy at The Daltons — €5,000
Guinness World Records records The Golden Boy as a €5,000 single-portion hamburger sold at The Daltons in Voorthuizen, Gelderland, Netherlands, on 28 June 2021. Guinness gives the equivalent as £4,295 / $5,967; those are the record page’s published equivalents, not current exchange-rate conversions. Its account names champagne in the bun, gold leaf, Wagyu beef, king crab, caviar and champagne-battered onion rings. A 2026 Guinness feature adds Japanese Wagyu brisket and chuck short rib, beluga caviar, truffle, and whisky/coffee barbecue sauce. The first €5,000 sale was donated to a local food bank, which used it to make 1,000 food packages. Current orderability is not established by the record listing. Why the Guinness record and SUA price are different claims
Guinness documents a dated sale of a single-portion burger at The Daltons. That makes The Golden Boy the strongest independently recognized benchmark in this comparison. Asador Aupa’s page is primary evidence for what the restaurant advertises, but not independent evidence that SUA is a record-holder. Its invitation-only condition also means the price is not necessarily an option an ordinary diner can simply order.
Chef Robbert Jan De Veen told Guinness: “I mean, it’s easy to just take a few really expensive ingredients and put them on a burger. But for me, it was very important that the burger also tastes awesome.” The Guinness account describes the first sale’s food-bank donation as part of the story behind the burger, rather than merely an ingredient-price contest.
Quick Recap
What to check before treating a burger price as real and current
- Ask whether the listed item is on the current menu. A reported price from 2025 does not establish availability in 2026.
- Clarify what the price buys. Check whether fries, drinks, a dining experience or other items are included; a package price is not directly comparable with a burger-only price.
- Check access conditions. Invitation-only service, limited runs or advance arrangements can make a headline price inaccessible to most diners.
- Keep the date and currency attached to the figure. The Golden Boy’s €5,000 record price is dated 28 June 2021; Guinness’s pound and dollar equivalents are those published on its page, not updated conversions.
