Grand Theft Auto VI is not currently scheduled for late 2025. Take-Two first moved the game from its Fall 2025 window to May 26, 2026; Rockstar later announced November 19, 2026, as the release date. Rockstar said the extra time would help it finish the game to the level of polish players expect. That date remains a publisher plan, not a guarantee.

Why was GTA VI delayed?
Rockstar’s public explanation was that it needed additional time to finish the game to the quality and polish players expect. In its November 7, 2025 announcement, Rockstar said: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Rockstar Games, November 7, 2025.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company supported Rockstar taking additional time to realize its creative vision. The cited announcements do not give a detailed account of internal production causes, so explanations beyond quality, polish, and creative vision are not established by those statements. What do the announced editions cost?
Rockstar and Take-Two announced pre-orders beginning June 25, 2026, with a $79.99 standard edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition. Physical edition format
The announced physical version comes in a box with a download code inside, rather than a game disc, and was scheduled to be available November 12, 2026, to support pre-loading ahead of the November 19 release.
