There is no public evidence confirming that Trump’s tariffs caused Resident Evil Requiem’s regional edition differences. Capcom’s Japanese listings show Collector’s Editions for console platforms, while Capcom USA’s pre-order announcement describes Deluxe and Steelbook Deluxe editions. The tariff explanation is an outside commentator’s speculation, not a statement from Capcom.
Was there a Resident Evil Requiem Collector’s Edition?
Yes. Capcom’s Japanese store lists a PS5 Collector’s Edition, and Capcom’s Japanese release material also identifies Collector’s Editions for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The same material describes a separate Steam Collector’s Set. So it would be inaccurate to say the game had no Collector’s Edition anywhere.
Capcom’s Japanese store listed the PS5 edition at ¥12,500, including tax, with delivery beginning February 27, 2026. Capcom’s Japanese release material gives the same suggested retail price, including tax, for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 Collector’s Editions and identifies February 27, 2026 as the release date. Capcom e-Capcom’s PS5 listing and Capcom’s Japanese release information describe these offerings.
What did the Japanese Collector’s Edition include?
Capcom’s Japanese PS5 listing describes a bundle of deluxe game content and physical collector materials. The available official information establishes the existence and broad contents of the Japanese product; it does not establish a matching U.S. Collector’s Edition.
#1 Best Overall
The listed ¥12,500 price is a Japan-market price including tax, not a U.S. price. It should not be converted or compared directly with U.S. edition prices without matching the date, exchange rate, taxes, and retailer terms.
What editions did Capcom announce in the United States?
In its November 26, 2025 U.S. pre-order announcement, Capcom described the Deluxe Edition and Steelbook Deluxe Edition. The Steelbook Deluxe Edition adds a steelbook case and a limited lenticular card. Capcom’s announcement does not explain the regional lineup by reference to tariffs. Read Capcom’s U.S. announcement.

This comparison documents different offerings in the cited Japan and U.S. materials; it does not prove that no Collector’s Edition was offered in every market outside Japan.
Are Trump’s tariffs to blame?
That claim is unconfirmed. iXBT Games reported the theory as an opinion from outside commentator AestheticGamer1, who said: “As much as some people don’t want to hear it, I think it’s Donald Trump and his unpredictable, ever-changing tariffs that led to Resident Evil Requiem not having a collector’s edition”. This is not a Capcom quotation or an official explanation. iXBT Games’ report.

The cited official materials establish the regional editions Capcom announced, but do not state why the lineups differed. That leaves the company’s reasoning unresolved: the public evidence neither confirms tariffs as the cause nor proves they played no role. A confident answer would require a direct statement or other reliable evidence from Capcom or its distributor.

No. Capcom said on March 4, 2026 that worldwide sales had passed 5 million units after the game’s February 27, 2026 release. That figure provides commercial context, but it does not explain Capcom’s earlier regional edition choices. Capcom’s sales announcement.
