Which Star Wars game caused the price spike?
It was the physical PS4 release of Star Wars: Racer Revenge, a Limited Run Games edition identified in coverage as CUSA-03474. That distinction matters: the PS2 original, the PS4 digital release and the limited-run PS4 disc are different products. The exploit coverage focused on the physical PS4 edition, so prices for another version do not establish the value of the sought-after copy.

Why did the price rise?
At the end of December 2025, a developer known as Gezine reportedly demonstrated a game-based exploit path using the PS4 version of Racer Revenge. Early January reporting described the route as promising but not yet publicly released. Tom’s Hardware characterized the change as a move from roughly $20 to eBay listings around $400; that is a reported comparison between an ordinary price and asking prices, not proof that copies actually sold for $400.

The news gave a scarce physical release new relevance to people following console exploits. But a price reaction is not technical confirmation: a disc’s usefulness depends on the exploit path and the console’s software conditions, and buying it alone does not establish that a PS5 can be jailbroken.
What the reports said about the PS5 jailbreak
The January 2 coverage described the proposed route as still in development. On January 13, GamesRadar+ reported a further caveat: although the game-based portion had been demonstrated, a firmware limitation reportedly affected the next step toward a full PS5 jailbreak. In other words, the demonstrated entry point and a complete, working jailbreak on a particular PS5 firmware are not the same claim.
A May 2026 PSX-Place community discussion referred to P2JB and Luac0re in connection with the game and firmware support. That thread documents community interest, but it is not primary technical documentation or a definitive compatibility chart. The available information does not establish a universal method or a verified current firmware range. Do not treat possession of the disc as a guarantee of compatibility or a complete jailbreak.
