NPCIL’s 2024 registration for Category-II Stipendiary Trainee Operator and Maintainer posts at its Rawatbhata Rajasthan Site opened on 22 August 2024 and closed on 11 September 2024. The application window is closed; the notice is useful as a record of that recruitment, not as an active application opportunity.
When did NPCIL Stipendiary Trainee registration 2024 start and close?
Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) accepted online applications from 22 August 2024 at 10:00 until 11 September 2024 at 16:00. The fee-payment window ended at the same closing time. These dates apply to Advertisement RR Site/HRM/04/2024 for the Rawatbhata Rajasthan Site, not to NPCIL recruitment generally. See the NPCIL Opportunities archive for the archived notice.
The 2024 application window is no longer open. Anyone looking for a current NPCIL vacancy should use NPCIL’s current Opportunities page and read the advertisement for that specific recruitment; the old notice does not activate a new registration.
How many vacancies did the 2024 notice list?
NPCIL listed 267 current vacancies and 279 vacancies in total when backlog vacancies were included. These are the figures in the 2024 advertisement, and they should not be treated as current openings.

Operator and Maintainer: what was different?
The advertisement covered two Category-II Stipendiary Trainee roles. Eligibility and selection requirements were not identical: applicants needed to follow the criteria for their chosen post and, for Maintainer, the relevant trade.
| Post | Qualification information in the notice | Selection stages noted |
|---|---|---|
| Operator | The notice sets separate, post-specific education criteria. Check the Operator section of the official advertisement for the exact qualification and subject requirements. | Preliminary and advanced written tests, physical standards testing, and document verification. |
| Maintainer | SSC/10th with at least 50% marks individually in Science and Mathematics, plus a two-year ITI certificate in a relevant trade: Electrician, Fitter, Instrumentation, Electronics, Machinist/Turner, or Welder. A relevant one-year post-course experience requirement applies to trades with an ITI course shorter than two years. | Preliminary and advanced written tests, physical standards testing, document verification, and a skill test. |
For Maintainer applicants, qualifying apprenticeship training could count toward the experience requirement under the notice’s terms; internship did not. The advertisement also required essential qualifications to be full-time and regular, from a recognized institution, and excluded distance, part-time, private, open-schooling, and NIOS qualifications under its criteria. For the exact discipline, category, and any applicable conditions, consult the official NPCIL archive entry and advertisement.

What were the tests and physical standards?
Both posts included a preliminary and an advanced written examination. NPCIL said the written examination could be OMR-based or a computer-based test (CBT). Physical standards testing and document verification were also listed for both posts; Maintainer candidates additionally faced a skill test.
The notice specified a minimum height of 160 cm and minimum weight of 45.5 kg, while allowing that standards could be relaxed if a candidate was otherwise medically fit. The advertisement is the controlling source for the precise testing sequence and conditions.

What were the training period and stipend?
NPCIL specified a two-year training period for Category-II Stipendiary Trainees. For Operator trainees, the notice listed a monthly stipend of ₹20,000 in the first year and ₹22,000 in the second year, plus a one-time ₹3,000 book allowance. Those amounts are terms of the 2024 notice, not a statement of current pay for other NPCIL recruitment.
After successful training, trainees could be considered for appointment to Technician/B, subject to the notice’s terms; appointment was not guaranteed. Candidates selected for training had to execute a bond before induction. Its duration was three times the training period, with a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years; the notice described repayment obligations if the bond was breached.

The stated general age range was 18 to 24 years as of the application closing date, with category-based relaxations listed in the advertisement. The contemporaneous Scroll report published on 22 August 2024 summarized a ₹100 fee for male General, EWS, and OBC candidates and exemptions for several other groups. Because fee eligibility and exemptions depend on the exact categories and terms in the official notice, applicants should rely on the advertisement rather than this summary.
How did the 2024 application process work?
At the time, the contemporaneous application summary directed candidates to NPCIL’s careers website, the Careers tab, and the registration link, then through registration, form completion, any required fee payment, submission, and saving a printout. Those directions described the 2024 process only. The registration period has ended, so they are not instructions for applying now.
