Honey Boo Boo’s 2024 Housing Scare—and the 2026 Home Purchase Report

The homelessness headline referred to a 2024 rental search. Thompson gave two explanations for the move, and a 2026 report says she and Dralin Carswell bought a Colorado home.

The “about to be homeless” headline referred to a rental search Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson discussed in August 2024—not a current report that she is homeless. Thompson initially said her lack of credit history and boyfriend Dralin Carswell’s student loans made it difficult to get approved for a rental. In a later clarification, she said they were leaving their lease because they wanted a larger yard for their dogs, a better area and easier parking. An October 2026 report says the couple bought a home in Colorado.

Why did Honey Boo Boo say she might have trouble finding housing?

In an August 28, 2024 report, The Denver Gazette said Thompson, who was attending Regis University in Denver, was looking for housing with Carswell. The article quoted her saying: “We’ve been searching everywhere for a new place, but Dralin’s student loans and my lack of credit have made it nearly impossible to get approved.”

That was Thompson’s account of the search. The reporting does not independently establish why any particular landlord may have rejected an application, or confirm that a landlord rejected one at all. The headline’s “about to be homeless” wording should therefore not be taken as proof that the couple had lost their home or had nowhere to stay.

What did Thompson later say about the move?

The following day, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reported Thompson’s clarification that the couple was not renewing their existing lease. She said they wanted more yard space for their dogs, a better area and less troublesome parking. That explanation puts the search in the context of a planned move, rather than establishing that they had been evicted.

The outlet also described a purported text from a landlord offering a recommendation. The available reporting does not independently authenticate that screenshot, so it does not establish the couple’s rental history.

Is Honey Boo Boo homeless now?

No current homelessness is established by the reports described here. A Parade report dated October 3, 2026 says Thompson and Carswell announced that they had bought a home in Colorado. That is a later update than the 2024 rental search, but it is secondary reporting based on social posts and entertainment coverage, not a reviewed deed or property record.

The report does not provide verified property records or establish the home’s address, price, exact purchase date, financing or ownership shares. Those details should not be inferred from the announcement coverage.

What the reports establish—and what they do not

  • August 2024: Thompson described a rental search and initially cited her lack of credit history and Carswell’s student loans as obstacles to approval.
  • Her later clarification: She said they were not renewing their lease because they wanted a larger yard, a better area and easier parking.
  • Online speculation: The cited reports do not establish speculation about Carswell’s record as the reason for the housing search.
  • October 2026: Parade reported that the couple bought a Colorado home; the underlying property details are not independently verified here.
