To buy a product on Amazon, choose an offer on its product page, add it to your cart, confirm the delivery address and payment method, then review the order and place it. Before paying, check who sells and ships the item and the delivery estimate for your address. After ordering, use Your Orders to track it or get help.
1. Choose the item and check the offer
Open the product page and confirm that you have selected the right product and options, such as size, color, or quantity. Check the price and condition, too. If multiple sellers offer the item, compare the available offers rather than assuming the first one is the only choice. Amazon says its New & Used option displays seller offers with their conditions and prices separately. Amazon’s guide to buying from third-party sellers explains where to find offer details.
Look beneath the Buy Now button for Sold by and Ships from. “Sold by” identifies the seller; “Ships from” indicates who fulfills the order. A third-party seller can sell an item that Amazon ships, or the seller may handle fulfillment. These are separate details, so check both.
Keep payment inside Amazon. Amazon Customer Service warns: “If a seller asks you to send funds directly to them, don’t place the order and contact us immediately.”

2. Add the item to your cart

Choose the offer, options, and quantity you want.

Select Add to Cart. If you are ready to check out immediately, you may see Buy Now; review the order details carefully before submitting it.

Open your cart and check that it contains the correct item and quantity. If your cart has other items, make sure you intend to order them as well.

Amazon says ordering from a third-party seller follows the same general process: add the item to your cart and proceed through checkout prompts. The seller’s identity and fulfillment details remain worth checking before you place the order.
3. Confirm your delivery address and payment method
At checkout, verify the delivery address for this specific order. An address saved as your account default may not be the right destination for this purchase. You can manage saved addresses in Your Addresses, but changing an account address does not automatically change the address on an order already placed. Amazon explains how to add, edit, or remove an address; if the order already exists, use the order’s available change controls instead.

Check the payment method shown during checkout before submitting the order. Amazon says you can add a credit or debit card during checkout and manage saved payment methods in Your Payments. Updating a saved payment method does not change the method on an open order. See Amazon’s payment-method instructions for account-level changes.
4. Review the delivery estimate and place the order
Before you submit the order, check the selected item and options, quantity, seller and shipping information, delivery address, payment method, and estimated delivery date. Delivery choices and dates depend on the item and destination. The estimate shown at checkout is more useful than assuming a particular shipping speed is available.

For example, Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery help lists several conditions: the address must be eligible, the item must be available, the order must meet the cutoff time, and the Same-Day option must be selected at checkout. The Same-Day Delivery help page describes those conditions. The confirmed delivery date appears in the order confirmation.
When the details are correct, select the final button to place the order. Save or check the confirmation so you can find the order and its current delivery information later.

5. Find, track, or get help with your order
Go to Your Orders to track a package, open order details, or use available options to change an order. Depending on the order, you can also access an invoice, start a return or replacement, or contact support. Amazon provides self-service help as well as phone, chat, and email options. Amazon’s order-help page outlines ways to get help.
If a third-party order has a problem, Amazon says an A-to-z Guarantee claim may be available in qualifying circumstances. It is not automatic for every order or issue; check the order’s details and the current claim requirements in Amazon’s third-party seller guidance.
Why a pending payment may appear
After you place an order, Amazon may ask your bank to validate the payment method. The bank may show a pending authorization that reserves funds; Amazon describes this as not yet being an actual charge. Its help page says the charge is processed after shipment. If an order is changed or cancelled, the bank may take 5–7 days to release the authorization, depending on its timing. This interval is not a guaranteed release date.
