The available reporting does not establish how Jay Stansfield’s value supposedly increased by 750%: it gives no starting figure or calculation. It does report a £25 million Birmingham City asking price in summer 2026 and a separate FootballTransfers model estimate of £14.7 million. Those are different measures, and neither proves that a sale took place.
What does the 750% claim mean?
A 750% increase requires a defined starting value, an ending value and a consistent basis for comparing them. The reports available here do not identify the baseline behind the claim, so the percentage cannot be independently verified. “Value” could mean a transfer fee, a club’s asking price or a model’s estimate; those figures are not interchangeable.
For a like-for-like percentage comparison, both figures should use the same currency, valuation provider and date convention, and should measure the same thing. A completed transfer fee, for example, cannot be treated as equivalent to a reported asking price without explaining the difference.
What is Jay Stansfield worth according to the latest figures?
In a report published on 15 September 2026, The72 said Birmingham City had set a £25 million asking price during summer 2026. The same report cited FootballTransfers’ estimated transfer value of £14.7 million, which it said had peaked at £18.1 million in March 2026. The asking price is reported club demand; the FootballTransfers figure is a model estimate. Neither is evidence of a completed sale or an agreed fee.

| Figure | What it represents | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| £25 million | Reported Birmingham City asking price in summer 2026 | The72, 15 September 2026 |
| £14.7 million | FootballTransfers estimated transfer value, as reported by The72 | The72, 15 September 2026 |
| £18.1 million | Reported peak for the FootballTransfers estimate | The72 says the peak was in March 2026 |
The three numbers answer different questions: what Birmingham was reportedly asking, what a valuation model estimated at the time of The72’s report, and the model’s earlier reported peak. They should not be combined into a single verified market price.
How much did Birmingham City pay?
Birmingham signed Stansfield from Fulham on a seven-year deal in August 2024, but the club did not officially disclose the fee. BBC Sport reported that it was more than £10 million and that the deal was understood to involve £10 million plus promotion bonuses. The precise total and the value of any add-ons are therefore not established by that reporting. BBC Sport also noted a sell-on clause for Fulham; the reports do not establish a specific payout from it.

The acquisition fee is not automatically a baseline for a later valuation percentage. It was a reported transaction figure with an uncertain structure, while the later £25 million figure was a reported asking price and the FootballTransfers amounts were model estimates.
What do Stansfield’s goals tell us—and what don’t they tell us?
Stansfield’s performance provides context for the attention around him, but goals do not by themselves establish a transfer valuation. BBC Sport reported that he scored 19 league goals and 24 in 46 appearances across all competitions during Birmingham’s 2024/25 promotion campaign. The72 separately reported 23 goals in 44 games in 2024/25; the reports use different totals, so those figures should remain attributed rather than blended.

The72 also reported that, by the time of its 15 September 2026 article, Stansfield had made nine appearances in 2026/27, scoring once and recording no assists. That is a snapshot at publication, not a full-season return.
In May 2025, Stansfield told BBC Radio WM, as reported by BBC Sport: “When I first came there was a lot of noise around it [the fee] and I took some stick about it. But that’s the game and I let my football do the talking,” His response describes the pressure surrounding the transfer fee; it does not confirm a market value.

What can be concluded about the 750% figure?
The sourced figures establish a reported £25 million summer 2026 asking price, a separate FootballTransfers estimate of £14.7 million in The72’s September 2026 account, and an earlier reported model peak of £18.1 million. They do not establish the starting figure or calculation needed to verify a 750% increase. Until that baseline is identified and compared on a consistent basis, the percentage should be treated as an unverified claim rather than a confirmed change in value.
