There is no confirmed Swindon Town takeover. TrustSTFC says it has been approached by several interested buyer groups, most recently an unnamed consortium, but its October 6, 2026 update did not identify a buyer or report a formal offer. Its “tipping point” language is a judgment about the strained relationship between owner Clem Morfuni and supporters—not an announcement that a sale is underway.
Is Swindon Town up for sale?
There is no evidence in the available statements that Swindon Town is formally up for sale. Morfuni’s last cited public position, reported by the BBC on November 5, 2023, was: “As I’ve emphasised before and will reiterate now: Swindon Town is not up for sale.” He also acknowledged that expressions of interest sometimes came in, while saying that discussions did not mean the club was actively for sale. That statement records his position in 2023; it does not establish what he thinks or what discussions may be happening now. BBC Sport’s 2023 report also says Morfuni took over the club in July 2021.
Has anyone made an offer for Swindon Town?
TrustSTFC reported on October 6, 2026 that it had been approached on multiple occasions by groups interested in buying the club. It described the latest approach as coming from a well-backed consortium with experience in sports franchising, digital media and marketing. The Trust did not name the group or say that it had made a formal offer. An approach is not the same as a bid, an accepted offer, or an agreed sale. TrustSTFC’s update is the source for these claims.
Who wants to buy Swindon Town?
The potential buyers have not been named in the cited account. The Trust’s description of the latest group is not enough to establish its identity, funding, seriousness, or whether it has made an offer. No buyer, sale agreement, or takeover timetable has been confirmed in the sources cited here.

Why does the Trust say the club has reached a “tipping point”?
TrustSTFC says the relationship between Morfuni’s leadership and the club’s community has deteriorated, citing what it describes as poor leadership, staff turnover, weak communication and a widening gap with supporters. It argues that the club’s future depends on whether Morfuni and his team can rebuild that relationship or whether new ownership is needed. That is the Trust’s assessment, not an independent forecast or evidence that a sale is imminent.
The Trust says Ian Holloway added to the pressure when he referred to the owner as a “dead man walking” during a pre-match press conference ahead of the Rochdale fixture. The Trust says the club’s coverage edited out the exchange, while BBC Wiltshire Sport and the Swindon Advertiser captured the full version. The quotation reproduced by the Trust was: “I’m not the only dead man, am I? The owners a dead man walking as well and that over complicates everything here, doesn’t it?” TrustSTFC’s account attributes the remark to Holloway.

What does the Trust say about the club’s finances?
In its October 2026 update, TrustSTFC put the club’s current “overdraft” at around £14 million and said it was rising. The Trust cautioned that not all of the amount accrued during Morfuni’s ownership. This is a figure reported by the Trust, not an independently verified current accounts figure in the cited material. The Trust also says Morfuni stepped in in 2021 and most likely saved the club from administration, and that he continues to bankroll it through loans repayable on demand. Those are the Trust’s descriptions of the ownership history and funding, not independently verified terms presented in the sources cited here. The Trust’s update sets out its account.
