In October 2020, reports said children filmed themselves opening a Daraz order for a drone and found the package empty of the expected product. Daraz’s official account said it had contacted the customer, but the available reports do not independently establish how the package became empty or confirm the full remedy.
What happened when the children ordered a drone from Daraz?
TechJuice and Insider Paper reported on 5 October 2020 that children opened a package for a drone ordered through Daraz and found no drone inside. The video was circulating on social media; Insider Paper described garbage and scraps in the box. These reports establish what the video was said to show, not who was responsible for the missing item or where in the order and delivery process it went missing.
The headline’s use of “scammed” reflects the reports’ framing of the incident. It is not a legal finding that Daraz itself committed fraud.
How much did the drone reportedly cost?
The reports give slightly different amounts. TechJuice put the price at around PKR 6,500; Insider Paper reported Rs. 6,550 and called the product an “LV Drone.” Neither report provides an order receipt or a verified product listing, so the exact transaction amount and model are not independently confirmed.

TechJuice reported that Daraz had contacted the customer and quoted a statement from the company’s official Twitter account on 5 October 2020: “Hey there, this is on us and we’re already in touch with the customer. We’ll definitely bring their smile back.” The report did not identify a named spokesperson.
Insider Paper also relayed a Twitter user’s account, attributed to someone they knew at Daraz, that the buyers were reimbursed, given a replacement, and the vendor was fired. That is secondhand reporting, not a directly confirmed company statement. The two reports do not provide order records or independent confirmation of those specific actions.
