What was the “Elon Hitler” coin?
The Daily Dot identified $EItler as a meme token built on Solana and traded on Raydium in a report published January 21, 2025. Indian Defence Review, writing January 22, said it had launched on Monday, January 20, amid the reaction to Musk’s gesture. These are reports about the token at launch, not confirmation that it remains available or actively traded today. The Daily Dot’s January 21 report and Indian Defence Review’s January 22 report describe the launch-era claims.
The name and ticker referenced the dispute over whether Musk’s gesture resembled a Nazi salute. That association explains the news hook; it does not establish who created the token, any connection between Musk and the project, or an endorsement by him.
Why did the token attract attention?
Coverage linked the token’s timing and branding to the controversy that followed Musk’s appearance at the Capital One Arena on January 20, 2025. The Daily Dot reported that $EItler had surged by at least 450% after launch. Indian Defence Review reported a rise of over 450%. Neither figure comes with a sufficiently clear, durable measurement window in the available reports to treat it as a reproducible return, and neither says anything reliable about performance today.

Those launch-era percentages are not evidence of lasting demand or a sound investment. In a meme token, a dramatic reported move can refer to a short interval or a particular trading pool; it does not by itself establish how much could be bought or sold at that price, or whether a seller could exit without a substantial price impact.
What happened at the event—and why was the gesture disputed?
The Associated Press reported that Musk spoke at the arena on January 20, 2025, saying, “I just want to say thank you for making it happen.” He placed a hand on his chest, extended his arm straight out and up with his palm down, then made a similar gesture in the other direction after saying, “My heart goes out to you.” The AP described the intention as unclear and documented differing interpretations.

The Anti-Defamation League told the AP: “It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge.” Kurt Braddock, a communication professor at American University who studies extremism, radicalization and terrorism, described the gesture as a fascist salute and said “people shouldn’t doubt what they saw.” Jared Holt, a senior research analyst at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, said, “I’m skeptical it was on purpose.” These are attributed views, not a settled consensus about intent.
The AP also reported Musk’s response on X: “The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.” The Associated Press account, published January 21, 2025, provides the event details and the differing reactions.

Is $EItler still taking over?
The available information does not support that claim as a current description. A DEX Screener page for an EItler/SOL pair on Solana labels the project “Elon Hitler” and displays a community-takeover claim dated January 22, 2025. That is a dated, pair-specific listing, not proof of current popularity, token-wide activity, or broad liquidity. Other pair listings in the available snapshots showed very low liquidity or no recent transaction activity; different pools can also have different quote assets and trading conditions. DEX Screener’s Solana listings are dynamic, so a page or ticker label should not be read as a current market assessment without checking the specific pair and timestamp.
No independently verified current price, market capitalization, volume, liquidity, holder count, or total supply is established by the cited reports and snapshots. A meaningful current assessment would require timestamped data for the exact token and pool, including recent trading activity and liquidity—not just a remembered launch headline or a token name appearing on a listing site.

What should a personal-finance reader take from the story?
$EItler is best understood as a short-lived news hook in the available January 2025 coverage, not as a verified investment opportunity or a coin demonstrated to be dominant today. The launch reports connect its branding to the gesture controversy and repeat a large but measurement-limited surge claim. They do not establish the token’s present condition or provide enough verified market data to judge its value, tradability, or security.
Indian Defence Review also reported a Rugcheck score of 0 and characterized it as indicating high rug-pull risk. The score and its scale are not independently verified in the available material, so that report should not be treated as a current contract-security assessment.
