Salary Sport’s 2023/24 Leeds United dataset implies an average of about £8,711 per week across its 68 wage-listed players: its reported £592,370 weekly wage bill divided by 68. This is a third-party estimate, not an average confirmed by Leeds United or a disclosed contractual figure.
How the all-player average is calculated
Salary Sport reports a weekly wage bill of £592,370 for 68 Leeds United players in its 2023/24 dataset. Dividing the bill by the listed headcount gives £8,711.32, or approximately £8,711 a week. The calculation is reproducible from the figures on Salary Sport’s Leeds United 2023/24 wage page.

This is the arithmetic mean for that dataset’s full wage-listed group. It is not a statement that every player earned anything close to that amount: Salary Sport places 38 players in a band below £1,000 a week, while its five highest earners account for 31% of the estimated wage bill. A small number of high salaries can therefore lift the overall mean well above what most listed players receive.
Why Salary Sport also gives a £24,879 average
The same source reports an average of £24,879 per week for 19 players aged 22 or over. That is a separate average for a narrower age group, not a competing calculation for all 68 wage-listed players. The wider dataset includes many younger players, which helps explain why its all-player mean is lower.

What the figures do—and do not—confirm
Salary Sport lists Patrick Bamford as Leeds United’s highest earner in the 2023/24 dataset at £40,000 a week. As with the averages, this is the site’s estimate, not a verified disclosure of his contract.
Leeds United Football Club Limited’s audited accounts for the year ended 30 June 2024 report £73,952,221 in wages and salaries for the group. They also give an average of 56 full-time playing staff, alongside apprentices, football management, administration and casual match-day staff. The accounts do not provide a player-only payroll or individual salaries, so their total cannot be used to verify either Salary Sport average or calculate an average player’s wage. See the club’s published accounts information.
