What is the estimated average weekly wage?
The clearest answer is a range, not one definitive number. SalaryLeaks lists £21.8 million in estimated first-team salaries for 23 players. Dividing that total by 23 and then by 52 weeks gives about £18,240 per player per week. This is a calculation from the database’s figures, not a weekly average it separately publishes. SalaryLeaks’ Norwich City 2023/24 estimates also list an average annual wage of £948,521.
Salary Sport’s 2023/24 Norwich City page reports a weekly average of £20,224 for 20 players aged 22 or older for whom it holds a wage. It lists 65 players in the squad, so £20,224 should not be presented as the average across all 65.
Why do the estimates differ?
The databases do not use the same stated population or calculation. SalaryLeaks’ figure is derived from estimated salaries for 23 listed players; Salary Sport’s average applies to a 20-player, age-filtered group. The available figures do not establish a common method for reconciling the two.

Other definitions matter too. A listed wage may not represent every part of a player’s compensation, such as bonuses, and a database’s roster may differ from another source’s first-team salary list. The available extracts do not provide comparable terms for fixed wages, bonuses or roster inclusion, so the estimates should not be treated as like-for-like measurements.
Are these official Norwich City figures?
No official player-only average is established by the available figures. Norwich City’s annual report for the year ended 30 June 2024 does not, in the information available here, provide both a first-team-player wage total and a matching player count. A club-wide staff-cost figure would not by itself show the average wage of a player.

SalaryLeaks cautions that comprehensive Championship salary data are rarely published and says many figures are informed estimates based on available reporting and club wage-bill information. The database values are therefore estimates, not confirmed contract disclosures. The pages’ publication dates are not stated in the available extracts.

The disagreement also appears in individual entries: SalaryLeaks estimates Ben Gibson’s wage at £40,000 a week, while Salary Sport lists £43,000 a week. This difference is another reason to attribute a figure to its publisher rather than describe it as a verified salary.

Norwich City competed in the Championship in 2023/24 and finished sixth. The season label identifies the campaign; SalaryLeaks’ squad listing is dated 13 February 2024. These estimates describe databases’ reported figures for that season, not a current Norwich City wage scale.
