Boxing Day 2026 is still ahead, so no Canadian gaming prices or discounts for this year’s sale are confirmed yet. Best Buy Canada says its Boxing Day sale returns in December 2026, and notes that retailers have started deals before December 26 in previous years. Check listings early and compare the exact product, seller, price and offer dates before buying.
When is Boxing Day 2026 in Canada?
Boxing Day falls on December 26. Best Buy Canada says its sale returns in December 2026, but that announcement does not specify when gaming offers will start or which products will be discounted. The retailer says Canadian deals have appeared before Boxing Day in past years, so the shopping window may begin earlier than December 26. Treat that as a reason to monitor listings, not a guarantee about 2026 timing. Check Best Buy Canada’s Boxing Day sale page for live updates.
Which gaming categories are worth checking?
Compare offers across gaming categories rather than assuming the best value will be a console discount. Best Buy Canada’s sale materials include platform games, consoles, gaming PCs, handheld gaming PCs, TVs and accessories.
- Consoles and bundles: Compare the console model and included items separately. Check whether a bundled game is a physical copy or a digital download.
- Games: Match the title, edition and platform. A discount on a Switch version is not directly comparable with the same title for PlayStation, Xbox or PC.
- PC gaming: Check gaming PCs and handheld gaming PCs alongside games and peripherals; confirm the exact configuration rather than comparing product names alone.
- Accessories and displays: Controllers, headsets, TVs and storage can be relevant purchases, but confirm device compatibility and model numbers before comparing prices.
Best Buy Canada’s video-game sale page identifies gaming listings to monitor. Its Boxing Day FAQ describes both physical and digital games as sale formats.

What past Canadian Boxing Day offers can—and cannot—tell you
Previous promotions show the kinds of products retailers have discounted, but they are examples, not a reliable forecast of 2026 pricing. Nintendo’s Canadian 2025 holiday promotion included games, digital discounts, bundles and storage. Nintendo said offers could vary by retailer.
| Historical offer | What was advertised | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle, 2025 | $699.99, with $39.99 in stated extra value | Historical Nintendo of Canada promotion; not a 2026 price or availability promise. |
| Nintendo Switch + Nintendo Switch Sports + Leg Strap Bundle, 2025 | Suggested retail price of $419.99, with stated total added value of $69.98 | Historical suggested retail price and value claim; offers could vary by retailer. |
| Six listed Nintendo Switch games, 2025 | $59.99 each, described as a $25 saving | Specific to the described 2025 holiday promotion. |
| Nintendo digital games and Switch 2 storage, 2025 | Digital game discounts up to 50%; $25 saving on a Samsung 256GB microSD Express Card for Switch 2 | Historical offer details, not confirmation of a recurring discount. |
| Selected Amazon Canada gaming products, Dec. 20–26, 2024 | Up to 52% off select PlayStation VR2 and Sony headsets; up to 30% off select Nintendo games; up to 30% off select Xbox controllers and Backbone products | Maximum advertised discounts on selected products during that dated event, not typical savings or a 2026 forecast. |

How to compare a gaming deal before you buy
- Match the exact item. Compare the same console model, game edition, accessory model or PC configuration. A lower price on a different edition or spec is not an equivalent offer.
- Check platform and compatibility. Verify whether the item is for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 or PC. Confirm that controllers, headsets and storage work with your system.
- Compare formats and bundle contents. Distinguish physical games from digital purchases, and identify everything included in a bundle. Value a digital download only if it suits your preferences and account setup.
- Check the full Canadian listing. Compare the current price, seller, stock and offer dates. A sale price can be hard to evaluate without the exact listing and a like-for-like comparison.
- Recheck as the sale approaches. Because retailers have launched offers before December 26 in past years, monitor listings during December rather than relying on a single Boxing Day visit.
Does shopping volume show when the best deals will appear?
No. Walmart Connect Canada’s first-party data for November–December 2024 found that online gaming sales volume peaked around Black Friday. In-store sales had an initial jump around Black Friday and another notable peak during Christmas week; gaming search interest also clustered around Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas week. These figures describe past shopping activity, not discount depth, deal quality or 2026 pricing. Read Walmart Connect Canada’s holiday gaming report.
