For road running
The Forerunner 165 was the lower-cost running-focused choice in the cited roundups. It may suit regular runners who do not need full-color maps. For hiking and outdoor navigation

For a rugged alternative
The Instinct 3 is worth comparing if a rugged, outdoor-oriented watch is a better fit than a running-first model. The cited $349 price applied to the 45 mm AMOLED version during the October event; it should not be assumed for other versions or dates.

Are Garmin Prime Day deals still available?
The October event was over by October 8, 2026. Deal prices can change or disappear, and coverage from the same event did not always show identical figures: TechRadar reported the 47 mm fēnix 8 at $731.34 in the US and £595.56 in the UK, while The5krunner later listed $729.99 and £580.05 for its snapshot. Different timing, country, variant, retailer listing, or deal criteria can account for differences. The5krunner’s October 8 roundup also said the cheapest country varied by model and reported no Prime deal on the current Forerunner 970 and 570 at its last check; those were time-specific observations, not permanent availability claims.
To check whether a discount is real now, compare the exact model, size, color, and regional version at the retailer, then confirm that the offer is still active at checkout. Do not use a US price as a proxy for a UK or German listing. Garmin’s official promotions page is another place to check, although it did not establish a live offer in the October 8 snapshot.

When do Garmin watches go on sale?
The cited coverage documents discounts during October Prime Big Deal Days, but it does not establish a reliable calendar or guarantee that a specific Garmin model will be discounted at the next sale.
