What happened to the Walmart “Wirkin”?
The bag widely nicknamed the “Wirkin” was sold through third-party sellers on Walmart.com. Business of Fashion reported in January 2025 that the listing was priced at $78 and offered 12 colors in two sizes before selling out and being removed. Fortune identified it as “KAMUGO Genuine Leather Handbags Purse for Women” and reported that it appeared sold out; Walmart had not confirmed whether it would return. OregonLive said in a September 2025 update that the bag was no longer listed on Walmart’s website. Those are dated reports, not confirmation of current inventory.
It was described in coverage as a lookalike or “inspired-by” bag. It was not an authentic Birkin, and the reporting’s discussion of possible trade-dress concerns is not a legal finding. Avoid listings that use Hermès branding or suggest the bag is made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Hermès.
Why this article doesn’t list 16 bags as available to buy
Older shopping roundups can help identify styles and product names, but they do not establish that a particular listing remains live today. USA TODAY’s March 2025 update named Dasein top-handle and two-tone satchels and an EVVE top-handle satchel with a detachable strap among Amazon options. It also named Walmart marketplace sellers or brands including XB Xibang, Lartappy, NOBRAND, KINGSS, AHSJNP, Teplite, and BESTSPR. OregonLive’s roundup included a crocodile-print tote, a soft faux-leather tote, and a Persaman New York structured calfskin tote at Nordstrom Rack. These are historical references, not verified current recommendations.

Without checking each live product page, it would be misleading to present 16 products as shoppable or assign them current prices, specifications, sellers, stock status, or return terms. Treat old prices and availability claims as dated, and search by the general style rather than assuming an old listing still exists.
How to shop for a similar structured bag
- Search by shape, not by brand. Try terms such as “structured top-handle satchel,” “structured handbag,” or “satchel with detachable strap” at a retailer you trust. These describe bag features without implying the item is an Hermès product.
- Open the exact product page. Confirm that the page is live and that the item is available in the color and size you want. On a marketplace, check who sells and ships it; the retailer hosting a listing may not be the seller.
- Check the seller’s stated material and measurements. Don’t infer leather from product photos or a broad title. Compare listed dimensions with a bag you already own, and use the seller’s capacity claims rather than assuming a phone, wallet, or tablet will fit.
- Inspect the closure and included pieces. Look for details that matter in daily use, such as a zip or flap closure, interior pockets, a detachable shoulder strap, and whether accessories shown in photos are included.
- Read the return terms before paying. Check the return window, who pays return shipping, any condition requirements, and whether marketplace items follow different terms from products sold directly by the retailer.
- Compare the total cost. Include shipping and any membership requirement or other checkout charge. A low displayed price is not necessarily the lowest cost if delivery or return expenses change the total.
