That was a one-off collector bottle, not a normal shop price. For regularly produced luxury waters, there is no well-supported, current worldwide top ten: prices, editions and availability vary by market, and published lists mix retail offers with estimates and auction results.
Here are ten notable names, separated by what their reported prices actually mean. This comparison uses the Guinness auction record, reported collector-edition estimates and brand or market comparisons available through 2024; it does not present those unlike figures as one ranked retail-price list.

How to read a “most expensive” list
A bottle can be called the world’s most expensive because it sold at auction, because an editor estimated the value of a jeweled edition, or because a retailer regularly offers a high-priced product. These are different measures, not interchangeable price tags.
- Auction sale: a completed transaction, often for a unique or collectible bottle.
- Editorial estimate: a publication’s valuation, not proof that a buyer paid that amount or that the bottle is currently offered for sale.
- Retail comparison: an asking price for a product available through a brand or retailer. It needs a market, bottle size, edition and date to be meaningful.
Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison illustrates one retail method: it excludes one-off jewel-encrusted marketing bottles, considers regularly available products, and normalizes prices to US dollars per litre, generally using a roughly 750 ml dining bottle. The comparison is authored by a water brand that sells specialty water, so it is a useful, transparent market comparison—not an independent census of every seller.

Ten notable exotic and expensive bottled waters
The entries below are grouped by price evidence rather than forced into a single numerical order. A name’s inclusion does not mean its reported figure is a current retail offer.
1. Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani — documented auction record
Guinness World Records lists a sale price of US$60,000 for this bottle at a Mexico City auction on 4 March 2010. The record describes a glass bottle covered in 24-karat gold and based on artwork by Italian artist Amedeo Clemente Modigliani. Guinness says the proceeds were donated to Plan3t Foundation A.C. to battle global warming. This is the strongest documented price in the list, but it is a historic auction result—not a current retail price. Guinness World Records’ entry
Tatler later estimated the bottle’s value at US$6.1 million. That editorial estimate is separate from, and should not be confused with, the Guinness-listed US$60,000 auction sale. Tatler Asia’s feature
2. Beverly Hills 9OH2O Diamond Edition — jeweled collector edition
Tatler estimates the Diamond Edition at US$100,000 and describes a cap set with 14 carats of white and black diamonds. The figure is an editorial estimate, not a verified present-day offer. Beverly Hills Drink Company says its spring water comes from 5,000 feet in the Southern California Mountains; that is the producer’s description of its source. Tatler Asia’s feature · Beverly Hills Drink Company
3. Bling H2O “Ten Thousand” — crystal-covered bottle
Tatler reports an estimated value of US$2,700 for the “Ten Thousand” bottle, a customizable design decorated with Swarovski crystals. That number is not established as a current general retail price. A 2023 water menu lists several Bling editions, but a menu listing alone does not establish current, broad availability. Source descriptions differ across secondary accounts and time, so confirm the origin with the producer before relying on a particular source claim. Tatler Asia’s feature · 2023 water menu

4. Fillico — decorative Japanese editions
Fillico is known for jewelry-inspired bottles, including crown-topped designs and a Black Queen edition described by Tatler. A 2023 menu describes its water as coming from bedrock near Mount Nunobiki in Kobe. Because the brand sells different editions, “Fillico” does not have one meaningful price without specifying the bottle. Tatler Asia’s feature · 2023 water menu
5. Nevas — sparkling water with a design edition
Nevas appears in Tatler’s feature and Svalbarði’s 2024 retail comparison, which includes a high-priced Design edition. The comparison identifies it as sparkling water, but the evidence here does not verify a current offer, price or stock status. Treat any figure from that comparison as dated rather than as a live quote. Tatler Asia’s feature · Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison
6. Svalbarði Polar Iceberg Water — recurring retail comparison
Svalbarði is an iceberg-water brand included in Tatler’s feature and in its own 2024 comparison of regularly available premium waters. The latter is useful for understanding the retail category because it states its price-per-litre approach and availability rule, but the commercial interest behind a brand-authored comparison matters when interpreting its selection and ranking. The reviewed evidence does not establish a current price or stock status. Tatler Asia’s feature · Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison
7. Berg — Canadian iceberg water
Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison describes Berg as a Canadian iceberg-water brand and reports a price from a Hong Kong specialist retailer. That is a location-specific historical retail reference, not a worldwide or current price. Local availability and the price a buyer would pay elsewhere may differ. Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison
8. BLVD — Tasmanian spring water
The same comparison describes BLVD as Tasmanian spring water and cites the highest regular retail price its author found on the brand’s Australian site. The market and date are essential context: the reported price does not establish today’s price or availability outside that market. Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison

9. MINUS 181 — artesian well water in a Riedel bottle
Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison describes MINUS 181 as artesian well water from a 181-metre well in northern Germany, packaged in a 681 ml Riedel bottle. It also reports limited online retail availability at the time. Those details make the comparison useful, but do not confirm the product’s present shop status or current price. Svalbarði’s 2024 comparison
10. Kona Nigari — a high price in an older roundup
A 2021 Katadata/Databoks list, attributing its selection to TheRichest, gives Kona Nigari as US$402 per 750 ml. That is a dated secondary-source price, not a verified current offer. The same roundup associates the water with weight loss, stress reduction and skin benefits; those are reported claims, not clinical outcomes established by the cited evidence. Katadata/Databoks’ 2021 list
What makes luxury bottled water expensive?
The headline prices often reflect the bottle as much as the water. Gold, diamonds, crystals, elaborate decoration, limited editions and collectible packaging can turn a container into a luxury object. In those cases, the price is not a useful comparison of the water’s source or mineral profile.
For recurring retail products, other factors may include unusual sourcing, small-scale production, packaging and distribution. A product’s source or mineral content can be compared separately from its presentation; neither by itself proves that a high-priced water offers a health advantage.
What to check before comparing or buying
- Price category: Is the figure a completed auction sale, an editorial estimate or a current retailer’s asking price?
- Market and date: A price found in Australia or Hong Kong is not automatically relevant to another country, and an older listing may no longer be available.
- Bottle size and edition: Compare like with like. Where retail prices are available, convert them to a common unit such as price per litre, while keeping the bottle size and edition visible.
- Availability: A one-off custom bottle is not equivalent to a regularly produced water that can be ordered.
- Source and product claims: Distinguish producer descriptions from independently established facts. Claims about alkaline properties, minerals or health effects should not be treated as proof of a clinical benefit.
For example, Beverly Hills Drink Company describes its water as naturally alkaline and rich in calcium, magnesium and electrolytes. Those are the producer’s claims about its product, not evidence here of a demonstrated health advantage. Beverly Hills Drink Company
So, which bottled water is the most expensive?
For a documented completed sale, Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani is the answer: Guinness World Records records US$60,000 at auction in 2010. For current retail waters, the available comparisons do not support a definitive global top ten. A fair ranking would need current offers checked in one market, with each edition and bottle size specified and prices normalized on the same basis.
