Yes—Valve raised Steam Deck OLED prices on May 27, 2026. The 512GB model is now listed at $789 in the U.S., up $240 from its previously reported $549 price; the 1TB model is $949, up $300 from its previously reported $649 price. Valve announced the new prices when it said the OLED was back in stock. The increase is no longer new, and local pricing, taxes and availability can vary.
What are the new Steam Deck OLED prices?
Valve’s May 27, 2026 announcement listed these prices, with VAT included where applicable:
| Steam Deck OLED model | USD | CAD | EUR | GBP | AUD | PLN |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 512GB | $789 | CAD 1,129 | €779 | £649 | AUD 1,199 | PLN 3,279 |
| 1TB | $949 | CAD 1,349 | €919 | £779 | AUD 1,429 | PLN 3,879 |
For the U.S. comparison, TechSpot reported previous listed prices of $549 for the 512GB OLED and $649 for the 1TB OLED. Compared with Valve’s new U.S. prices, that is an increase of $240 and $300, respectively. Those figures compare the announced U.S. prices; they do not establish that every retailer or used listing changed by the same amount.
Use the Steam store in your region to check the current price and availability before buying. Valve announced region-specific prices, so converting the U.S. amount is not a reliable substitute. The announcement does not establish current checkout pricing or stock in every region.

Why did Valve raise the price?
Valve attributed the increase to rising memory and storage costs and global logistical challenges affecting the consumer-electronics industry. In its May 27 announcement, Valve said: “Steam Deck itself hasn’t changed; these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole.”
That is Valve’s explanation; the announcement does not provide a breakdown of how much each factor contributed or quantify a market-wide effect.

Valve lists both OLED models with a 7.4-inch HDR OLED display, refresh rates up to 90Hz, Wi-Fi 6E and a 50Wh battery. Its estimated gameplay range is 3–12 hours, depending on the content being played. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

Valve’s comparison highlights the larger built-in drive, etched glass and case with removable liner as 1TB-tier differences. Both models support microSD cards for storage expansion, according to Valve. A card may be worth considering if your main concern is game storage, but it does not change the model’s listed built-in capacity.

How should buyers think about the price change?
- Compare the actual local checkout price. Taxes, regional pricing and stock can differ, and the announcement does not confirm present availability in every market.
- Choose based on storage and listed extras. The 1TB model costs more and adds built-in capacity, etched glass and a case with removable liner. The 512GB model has less built-in storage and does not list those premium extras.
- Consider your setup separately. Valve says the Deck can connect to displays and peripherals over USB-C and lists a Steam Deck Docking Station. These are optional connected-use considerations, not part of the announced console price.
