Ted Danson is the highest-net-worth star in Audacy’s 2021 ranking of the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation cast. Citing Celebrity Net Worth, Audacy estimated his net worth at $80 million. That is a published estimate—not a verified financial disclosure or a measure of earnings from CSI alone.
Who is the richest star in the original CSI cast?
Audacy’s April 3, 2021 ranking places Danson first, at an estimated $80 million. The list says he appeared in 84 episodes as D.B. Russell and points to his work on other successful television series, including Cheers and The Good Place, as part of the broader career behind his wealth. Read Audacy’s ranking.

The scope matters: “CSI” can mean the original Las Vegas-set series or the wider franchise. The ranking concerns the original show’s core cast; it does not establish who is wealthiest across all the principal casts of the different CSI series. Paramount’s catalog lists the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as running from 2000 to 2015, with 16 seasons and 337 episodes. See Paramount’s official series catalog.
How the same ranking compares other cast estimates
These are estimates reported by one ranking, not audited figures or independent confirmations. Keeping the source and date attached to each amount makes the comparison clearer:

| Actor | Estimated net worth in Audacy’s 2021 ranking | CSI connection |
|---|---|---|
| Ted Danson | $80 million | D.B. Russell; 84 episodes, according to Audacy |
| William Petersen | $40 million | Star of the original series |
| Marg Helgenberger | $32 million | Star of the original series |
Audacy’s 2021 ranking attributes its estimates to Celebrity Net Worth. The figures should be read as a same-source comparison from that publication, not as current balances.
Why celebrity net worth figures are estimates
Net worth is not the same as salary or career earnings. It reflects a broader financial picture, including assets and liabilities, and celebrity net worth sites generally do not publish audited personal accounts. Celebrity Net Worth says its figures draw on public sources and, where available, private tips and feedback; it describes them as estimates unless otherwise indicated. See its Marg Helgenberger estimate and methodology note.

Figures can also vary by publisher and update date. For example, Celebrity Net Worth’s Marg Helgenberger page lists $35 million, compared with the $32 million in Audacy’s 2021 ranking. That difference is a reason to attribute any figure and avoid presenting it as settled fact.

Historical salary reports provide a different kind of information. CBS News’ coverage of television earners reported $375,000 per episode for Marg Helgenberger and CSI: Miami actor David Caruso, and $350,000 per episode for Laurence Fishburne. Those are dated, per-episode salary reports about particular actors and series—not net-worth figures. Read CBS News’ historical salary coverage.
Rank #3
Multiplying a reported episode salary by an episode count would not produce a reliable estimate of someone’s wealth. It would not account for the period covered by the salary report, other income, taxes, expenses, investments, or liabilities.
