The VinFast VF 3 has become a major sales success in Vietnam, but the familiar “$9,000” price was a brief May 2024 introductory deposit offer—not a current universal price. VinFast reported 44,585 VF 3 deliveries in Vietnam in 2025 and 46,977 worldwide that year. Those figures support calling it a sales hit; they do not establish owner satisfaction, reliability, or profitability.
What did the $9,000 VF 3 offer actually include?
VinFast’s May 13–15, 2024 introductory deposit offer in Vietnam quoted VND 235 million (approximately US$9,248) without the battery, or VND 315 million (approximately US$12,390) with the battery. The lower figure was therefore not a battery-included price, and both prices belong to that dated, limited offer—not necessarily the final retail price or today’s price in Vietnam or any other market. VinFast’s May 2024 announcement gives the offer terms and preorder count.
For a meaningful comparison with another EV, check the country and date of the price, whether the battery is included, and whether the number is a deposit promotion or an ordinary retail price. A battery-excluded campaign price should not be compared as if it were equivalent to a current battery-included offer.
How strong are the VF 3’s sales?
Early interest: preorders
VinFast said it received 27,649 non-refundable, non-transferable VF 3 preorders in Vietnam during the first 66 hours after deposits opened in May 2024. That is evidence of substantial early demand, but a preorder is not a delivered vehicle, and the count does not show that every order became a completed sale. VinFast’s announcement describes the campaign.

Later evidence: deliveries
VinFast’s 2025 Form 20-F filed in 2026 reports 44,585 VF 3 deliveries in Vietnam in 2025 and identifies it as Vietnam’s best-selling model that year. The filing separately reports 46,977 global VF 3 deliveries in 2025. The Vietnam total is part of the global total; they are distinct geographic measures, not figures to add together.
The filing says VF 3 deliveries began in Vietnam in July 2024, the Philippines in November 2024, and Indonesia in March 2025. Those start dates do not establish current availability elsewhere.

What kind of vehicle is it?
VinFast introduced the VF 3 in 2023 as a mini electric car designed for Vietnam. The manufacturer’s Vietnam product page lists four seats and dimensions of 3,190 mm long, 1,679 mm wide, and 1,652 mm high. This is a small four-seat vehicle, not a conventional full-size car. VinFast’s Vietnam VF 3 page provides the specifications below; they are manufacturer-published figures for that market, not independently tested results or guarantees for all markets and model years.

The 215 km figure is measured on the NEDC cycle. It should not be presented as independently measured real-world range or assumed to describe every market’s version of the vehicle. The listed charging time is specifically for a DC charge from 10% to 70%.

Does “smashing hit” mean buyers are satisfied?
The delivery totals and Vietnam sales ranking make “sales hit” a reasonable description of the VF 3’s performance. They do not answer whether owners are satisfied, how reliable the car is, or whether the model is profitable. The available figures measure orders and deliveries, not customer experience or financial results.
