You can earn Aeroplan points through eligible Air Canada and partner-airline flights, travel bookings, participating retail partners, and eligible purchases on an Aeroplan credit card. The requirements vary: some routes depend on where you book, others require a linked account or membership number, and credit-card rates depend on the specific card and market.
Compare the main ways to earn Aeroplan points

Air Canada describes these channels on its Aeroplan earning overview. The program does not publish one universal rate for every route and partner on that overview.
Earn points on eligible Air Canada flights
Air Canada’s Canadian earning overview says eligible cash bookings made on its website or app earn points across fare classes, including Basic. It calculates earning from eligible base fare and carrier surcharges, excluding applicable taxes, fees, and third-party charges. That is a general description, not a guarantee that every ticket or amount paid earns points: check the fare’s eligibility and the applicable program terms before booking.
Air Canada does not establish one point calculation in that broad overview that can be applied to every booking. Review the terms for the specific itinerary to understand how its eligible amount translates into points.

Check partner-airline rules against your ticket
Eligible flights on Aeroplan partner airlines can also earn points. The rule is date-sensitive: Air Canada’s flight-earning page says that for travel on or after January 1, 2026, the method depends on both where the ticket was purchased and which partner airline you fly. Older explanations based solely on distance may not apply to a 2026 itinerary.
Before travel, use Air Canada’s current flight-earning information and the terms for the specific partner and ticket. Do not assume that a booking channel or calculation method applies to every partner.

Earn on hotels, car rentals, and vacation packages
Aeroplan lists hotels, car rentals, and vacation packages among its travel-earning categories. Whether a booking earns points, and how many, depends on the provider and its terms. The program overview does not supply a complete current rate table for these categories, so check the participating provider’s current conditions rather than applying a single rate to all bookings.
Earn through online shopping and everyday partners
Shop through the Aeroplan eStore
The U.S. Aeroplan everyday-partners page displayed more than 200 online retailers when accessed in 2026. The count is a snapshot, not a guaranteed permanent total, and the available retailers and offers can change. Start from the Aeroplan everyday-partners page and follow its current shopping instructions so the purchase can be tracked. Check exclusions and offer terms; merely buying from a retailer does not establish that a purchase qualifies.

Link accounts or identify yourself at checkout
Some everyday earning routes use linked accounts or require you to present your Aeroplan membership when making an eligible purchase. Air Canada’s U.S. page describes examples including linked Starbucks Rewards and Uber accounts, Uber Eats orders, and earning at LCBO. Those examples and their availability are market-specific; check the current terms for your country, partner, and transaction.
Use an Aeroplan credit card for eligible spending
Air Canada says co-branded Aeroplan cards earn on eligible everyday purchases and selected categories, with additional earning on Air Canada purchases for applicable products. There is no single card rate: the earning categories and terms depend on the card and market. Compare current issuer information for the card’s annual fee, categories that match your spending, and any benefits you would actually use; a card is not automatically worthwhile just because it earns points.

Use the issuer’s terms alongside Air Canada’s Aeroplan earning information. Verify eligibility and the current rate before relying on a particular purchase to earn a stated number of points.

At participating retailers or partners, you may earn through the partner route and through an Aeroplan credit-card purchase on the same eligible transaction. Air Canada describes this as earning twice when members present their Aeroplan membership or link an account with a participating partner and pay with an Aeroplan card. Stacking is conditional: partner participation, transaction eligibility, correct account linking or membership presentation, and the card’s own terms all matter. Check both sets of conditions rather than assuming every purchase qualifies for both.

Choose a route that fits spending you already plan
There is no universally best earning method because eligibility, calculation, geography, and effort differ. A practical approach is to start with purchases or trips you already intend to make, then confirm the earning conditions before paying.
