Pi Network has the clearest documented milestone for external connectivity: it announced that its Open Network launched on February 19, 2025. Ice Open Network describes a TON-based blockchain and a wider services ecosystem, while Bee Network’s materials combine app features with a phased project vision. None of those descriptions, by themselves, proves independent adoption, token value, security, or real-world utility. These projects are best compared as mobile-first crypto and Web3 ecosystems—not as three equivalent social-media platforms.
How the three networks compare
| Network | Documented status and external connectivity | What the app or project materials describe | Identity and access gates | Balances, use, and adoption evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ice Open Network (ION) | ION’s whitepaper, dated September 28, 2023 and shown as updated January 28, 2026, describes a TON-based layer-1 blockchain. In an April 12, 2025 update, the project said ICE had migrated to ION as part of its next phase. That update also discussed planned releases; it does not establish their current availability. | The whitepaper proposes social networking, digital identity, and storage services. These are ecosystem plans and descriptions, not independent confirmation that every service is live or broadly used. | The reviewed materials do not establish a comparable general KYC or KYB requirement for access. Check current official instructions for any specific service or transaction. | The April 2025 update describes the ICE-to-ION migration, but the reviewed evidence does not establish current ticker, chain, or migration instructions. No comparable independently verified adoption count is stated in the examined project materials. |
| Pi Network | Pi announced that its Open Network launched on February 19, 2025, saying external connectivity became available that day. | Pi’s whitepaper describes app-mediated participation and rewards, Security Circles, and balance migration. It is useful for design context, but includes historical roadmap language and cautions that sections may need updating. | Pi says individuals need KYC for mainnet-related participation and businesses need KYB to access Mainnet or provide infrastructure such as exchanges, bridges, and wallets. Pi advises using only listed KYB services for integrations. | The whitepaper links KYC to migration of phone balances to Mainnet. The reviewed material does not establish a comparable independently audited user or active-user count, or guarantee that a balance has market value or is usable in a particular service. |
| Bee Network | Bee’s draft V1.2 whitepaper describes a phased project vision. Its app listing and May 20, 2026 announcement provide newer descriptions, but they do not independently establish the status of every planned network function. | The app listing describes app-based BEE mining, asset management, mini-games, and DApps. The draft whitepaper discusses community roles and a planned DApp and value-exchange marketplace. Bee’s May 2026 post also describes AI Buddy and multi-chain wallet features; availability to all users is not established by that announcement alone. | The draft whitepaper discusses KYC, and Bee’s May 20, 2026 post announced 100,000 identity-verification slots. That is a project-reported number of slots, not a count of completed verifications. | Bee said on May 20, 2026 that registered users exceeded 54 million. This is a project-reported registered-user figure, not an independently audited active-user count. The reviewed material does not establish token liquidity, value, or broad transferability. |
The table reflects what the projects and app listing say, not independent testing. The reviewed sources do not provide comparable measurements of decentralization, transaction speed, security, or user activity, so those are not sound grounds for ranking the three.
What “social crypto network” means here
The phrase describes a mobile-first mix of community participation, app interfaces, identity features, and digital-asset ambitions. It does not mean each project is a conventional social network, or that a social feature proves a token has practical utility. ION’s whitepaper proposes social services alongside identity and storage; Pi’s whitepaper describes community and app-mediated participation; Bee’s materials describe app features and a broader Web3 portal vision.
Keep three questions separate when evaluating any of them: what the app currently offers, what the network or token lets you do outside the app, and what the project says it intends to build. A feature listed by a project or app publisher is evidence of that description—not independent proof of usage, reliability, security, or economic value.

What the announced milestones do—and do not—show
Ice Open Network: distinguish the network from the token migration
ION presents itself as a TON-based layer-1 blockchain and an ecosystem of services. Its whitepaper discusses capacity for millions of requests per second as a design ambition; it is not an independently demonstrated benchmark in the reviewed material. Likewise, the April 12, 2025 announcement that ICE had migrated to ION is a dated project statement, not a substitute for current instructions about ticker, chain, or migration steps. Confirm those details in current official notices before sending assets or relying on a wallet or exchange listing.
Pi Network: an announced Open Network and a KYC-linked Mainnet process
Pi’s February 19, 2025 announcement is the clearest dated statement in these materials about external connectivity: Pi said its Open Network launched and external connections became available. Its announcement also describes KYC for individuals’ Mainnet activity and KYB for businesses seeking Mainnet access or supplying infrastructure. The whitepaper explains the project’s app-mediated reward model and the connection between KYC and balance migration, but its older future-tense roadmap passages should not be read as current launch information.

Bee Network: app features alongside a phased vision
Bee’s draft V1.2 whitepaper describes app-based earning and a staged plan for DApps and a marketplace. Its app listing describes features such as asset management, mini-games, and DApps, while its May 20, 2026 post adds project-reported user and KYC-slot figures and describes AI Buddy and multi-chain wallet features. These sources establish what Bee says about its product and plans; they do not show that every roadmap item is live, available to every user, or independently verified.
How to assess balances, transferability, and value
An in-app balance is not automatically the same thing as a transferable asset, a balance on a public network, or spendable money. For each project, verify the exact chain and asset, whether your specific balance has completed any required migration or identity check, and whether the intended wallet or service is officially supported. Then confirm that the receiving service is legitimate and that the asset can actually be used there. The reviewed materials do not establish a guaranteed cash value or universal transferability for balances across these projects.

- For ION/ICE: use current official migration and wallet guidance rather than relying only on the April 2025 migration announcement.
- For Pi: distinguish app participation from Mainnet balance migration; Pi’s whitepaper says KYC is linked to migration, and Pi’s launch notice says KYB applies to businesses integrating with Mainnet.
- For Bee: distinguish an app-listed feature or project announcement from proof that a balance is liquid, transferable, or accepted by an external service.
How much weight to give user and performance claims
Bee’s May 20, 2026 post says its registered-user count exceeded 54 million and announces 100,000 identity-verification slots. Both are Bee Network figures, not independent measurements. “Registered users,” “active users,” and “verified users” are different measures; do not compare them as if they were interchangeable, especially across projects or dates.
The sources reviewed for all three projects are project-authored materials or an app-store listing. They can establish what a project announced or how a publisher describes an app, but they do not independently verify decentralization, transaction performance, safety, adoption, token value, or long-term utility. For that reason, claims such as ION’s performance ambitions should not be treated as measured results, and app listings should not be treated as evidence of token liquidity or security.

Wallet and phishing precautions
Pi’s official safety guidance recommends checking exact official URLs, protecting wallet passphrases, and watching for phishing and unauthorized token listings. Those precautions are sensible for any crypto app: a look-alike website, unsolicited message, or unverified listing can put funds or account access at risk.
- Navigate to a project’s official site or app listing independently and check the exact address before entering credentials.
- Never share a wallet passphrase or recovery phrase with a person claiming to provide support.
- Do not assume a token listing, bridge, wallet, or migration offer is authorized just because it uses a familiar project name or logo.
- Before moving assets, verify the network, recipient address, and current project instructions. A transfer to an incompatible network or address may be difficult or impossible to reverse.
Which one should you explore?
Choose based on the specific activity you want to try, not on unverified promises of token value or projected scale. Pi has a dated Open Network launch announcement and explicit KYC/KYB guidance. ION has a broad ecosystem design and a dated ICE migration announcement, but current migration mechanics need current confirmation. Bee offers an app-centered set of described features and a phased Web3 vision, with adoption figures that are self-reported.
