PlayStation Direct lists a limited-time U.S. console offer from October 3 through October 10, 2026, but the offer page alone does not establish that this exact model qualifies at that price. Check the live product listing and checkout total before treating $449—or the claim that the deal is ending—as confirmed.
What the official pages confirm
PlayStation’s U.S. product page describes a 1TB PS5 console that plays PS5 and PS4 games on Blu-ray Disc, and directs shoppers to online retailers. It also says the vertical stand is sold separately. The page distinguishes the disc console from a Digital Edition, but does not provide a current price comparison between them. PlayStation’s PS5 buy page
Separately, PlayStation Direct advertises a U.S. promotion for PS5 consoles and bundles while supplies last. Its published dates are October 3 at 00:01 through October 10 at 23:59 local time. That promotion does not, by itself, verify a $449 price for the Slim Disc Edition. PlayStation Direct offer terms
What to verify before you buy
Because the exact $449 listing is not established by those official pages, use the retailer’s live listing and checkout screen to confirm the deal rather than relying on a headline or search result. Check these details together:

Does “likely not for long” hold up?
Only conditionally. PlayStation Direct’s published offer has a defined end date and is available while supplies last, so an eligible item under that promotion may become unavailable or stop qualifying after the offer ends. But the sources do not show that the Slim Disc Edition is priced at $449, that this exact listing qualifies, or that a retailer’s separate $449 price will end on the same schedule. Treat urgency as unverified until the exact listing and checkout terms support it.
Days of Play is not a current reason to expect this price: PlayStation’s 2026 event ran from May 27 through June 10 and has ended. A GamesRadar roundup dated October 2, 2026, described U.S. PS5 deals that week as difficult to find and reported that Sony had raised prices at the start of the month; that secondary report does not independently confirm this $449 offer.
