Looking for Halloween books during “Stuff Your Kindle Day”? The Indie Author Collective’s official program is called Stuff Your eReader, and its 2026 Halloween-season event is Get Spooked. It features horror, thriller, mystery, and paranormal books, with some titles offered free or for $0.99—but prices and platforms vary by listing, so check the live offer before you claim or buy.

What is the Halloween “Stuff Your Kindle Day” event?

“Stuff Your Kindle Day” is a familiar shorthand for ebook promotions organized by different groups. For this event, the official organizer is the Indie Author Collective (IAC), which calls its program Stuff Your eReader. IAC’s Halloween-season event is named Get Spooked.

IAC describes Stuff Your eReader as a series of monthly book blasts featuring indie authors and links to Kindle and Kobo shopping and subscription options. Get Spooked is the Halloween-themed installment; it is not a guarantee that every book in the event will be free or available for every e-reader.

What kinds of books are included?

The official 2026 author application lists horror, thriller, mystery, and paranormal as October’s theme. IAC also notes that books do not all have to be scary, so readers may find titles that fit the broader genres without being full-on horror.

The event page lets readers filter listings by genre and promotion type. Use those filters to narrow the selection, then check each book’s details for its retailer, format, and price.

Are the books free or $1?

Free and $0.99 promotions are possible, not universal. IAC’s application lists free and $0.99 books on Amazon and Kobo, along with Kindle Unlimited and Kobo Plus options. Those are formats authors may submit; they do not mean every title will be free, cost $0.99, or appear on every platform.

Before claiming a book, verify the price on the live retailer listing. Availability and pricing can differ by title, platform, location, and time, and a price shown in a promotion may change.

How to find and claim a book

  1. Open the official Get Spooked event page. IAC recommends using a desktop or laptop to browse the event.
  2. Filter the listings. Choose a genre and promotion type that match what you want to read.
  3. Open the individual book listing. Confirm the retailer or subscription service and check the current price and availability for your location.
  4. Claim or purchase through the listed platform. Follow the retailer’s own checkout or library instructions; the event page’s promotional category alone does not confirm the live price.

IAC’s 2025 reader guide also describes entering an event through its event page, an email link, or the event listing, then using the event’s “Join Now” control. The exact access route can depend on the current event page.

Do you need a Kindle?

No. IAC’s program is framed around e-reader books and points readers to both Kindle and Kobo options. You can choose among the platforms and formats listed for a particular title; the available sources do not say that owning a Kindle device is required.

When is Get Spooked in 2026?

IAC’s official materials identify an October event and its theme, but the accessible text of the reviewed pages does not establish the exact 2026 start and end dates. Check the live Get Spooked page for current event timing rather than relying on an unverified date.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
