Astronomer CEO Andy Byron resigned on July 19, 2025, and the company’s board accepted his resignation. The announcement followed a viral video from a Coldplay concert that showed Byron with Kristin Cabot, then Astronomer’s chief people officer. The video prompted speculation about their relationship, but it did not establish that an affair occurred.

What happened to Andy Byron?

Astronomer said Byron had tendered his resignation and that its board had accepted it. The company had placed him on leave the day before while the board began a formal investigation. The Associated Press reported the resignation and investigation on July 19, 2025, and Reuters, republished by Inc., reported the announcement on July 20.

The board said, as quoted by the AP, “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.” The company’s statement confirmed Byron’s departure; it did not, by itself, publicly establish the outcome of the board’s investigation or confirm the allegations circulating online.

What was in the Coldplay concert video?

The video was captured at Coldplay’s July 16, 2025, performance at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. It showed Byron and Cabot on a stadium screen, and their apparent reactions to being filmed fueled online speculation. The AP identified Byron as Astronomer’s CEO and Cabot as its chief people officer at the time.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked from the stage that the pair might be “having an affair or they’re just very shy,” as Futurism reported. That was a joke prompted by the screen, not evidence about the pair’s private relationship. The label “caught cheating” in the headline describes the public framing of the incident, not a finding established by the video or a company announcement.

Who took over at Astronomer?

When Byron was placed on leave, Astronomer co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy was serving as interim CEO. The company said it would search for a permanent CEO, according to the AP and Axios’s July 18, 2025 report. That is the leadership status reported at the time; it does not establish who leads Astronomer now.

Was there an exit package or a new job?

Axios reported, citing sources familiar with the situation, that the timing of Byron’s resignation involved negotiations over an exit package. The sources reviewed did not disclose a package amount or terms, and Astronomer did not publicly confirm those details.

The “career update” established by the announcement was Byron’s resignation from the CEO role. The sources reviewed do not establish a later job for him, the eventual outcome of the board investigation, or Astronomer’s current CEO. The July 2025 interim arrangement should not be treated as current without newer confirmation.
