There isn’t enough comparative evidence here to call eight HOKA shoes “the best” of 2026. HOKA’s published information does support a practical shortlist of four models by intended use: Bondi 9 for plush everyday running and walking, Clifton 10 for road training, Speedgoat 6 for trail running and hiking, and Mach X 3 for faster workouts. These are manufacturer-described roles and specifications, not an independent ranking or test.
Choose by surface and workout first
Start with where and how you plan to run. Bondi 9 and Clifton 10 are road-oriented options; Speedgoat 6 is built for trails and hiking. Mach X 3 is the plated choice in this group for speedwork and up-tempo sessions. The distinctions below reflect HOKA’s own product descriptions, not a head-to-head ride or comfort evaluation.

- Road running and walking: Compare Bondi 9 and Clifton 10.
- Technical trails or hikes: Consider Speedgoat 6.
- Faster training: Consider Mach X 3; its intended role differs from an easy-mile daily trainer.
Four HOKA models, matched to their stated uses
Bondi 9: plush everyday running and walking
HOKA positions the Bondi 9 for everyday running and walking. Its Australia product listing gives a weight of 297 g and a 5 mm heel-to-toe drop. The brand describes a supercritically foamed EVA midsole, structured upper, 3D-molded collar, MetaRocker, rearfoot-focused Active Foot Frame, and Durabrasion rubber outsole. HOKA’s launch article reports a 43 mm heel figure and says the shoe adds 2 mm of stack over the Bondi 8. These are HOKA-published specifications, not independent measurements. Choose it if HOKA’s plush, everyday-and-walking positioning fits your priorities. The published figures do not establish whether its cushioning or stability will feel right for your foot.
#1 Best Overall
Clifton 10: road daily training
HOKA describes the Clifton 10 as a road-running shoe and daily trainer. Its Australia launch article lists a 42 mm heel, 34 mm forefoot, and 8 mm drop, with published weights of 9.8 oz for men’s and 8.0 oz for women’s versions. The upper is described as double jacquard knit, and HOKA says standard, wide, and extra-wide options are offered. The same article gives the Clifton 9’s stack as 32 mm at the heel and 27 mm at the forefoot, with a 5 mm drop. Check the live regional listing for the actual size and width options available to you. HOKA Australia’s Clifton 10 launch article
Compared with the Bondi, Clifton is the more clearly specified daily road-training option in HOKA’s descriptions. That is a difference in brand positioning, not proof that it is lighter or more comfortable for every wearer; the cited weights also use different units and do not specify a shared size.

Speedgoat 6: trail running and hiking
HOKA identifies the Speedgoat 6 for trail running and hiking, including technical terrain. Its Australia product listing describes a Vibram Megagrip outsole with Traction Lug, revised lug orientation, 5 mm lugs, a lightweight woven upper, internal support chassis, dual-sided gusseted tongue, and protective toe bumper. For the displayed men’s model, HOKA lists 278 g and a 5 mm drop. HOKA Australia’s Speedgoat 6 product listing
The outsole and lug details make this the most terrain-specific option in this group. HOKA’s description does not establish how it performs on a particular trail, in wet conditions, or against other trail shoes.

- The ultra-cushioned game-changer
- One of the hardest working shoes in the HOKA lineup, the Bondi 9 delivers peak plushness for everyday miles. Overhauled from top to bottom, we’ve increased the stack height and added a new premium foam midsole to deliver that soft, resilient ride that’s become synonymous with the Bondi. Elevated with a 3D molded collar and structured knit upper with zonal breathability, this ultra-cushioned cult favorite has been finished with Durabrasion rubber to combat high wear zones.
- Engineered mesh with 55% recycled polyester
- Reflective upper details
- Extended heel pull
Mach X 3: faster training
HOKA positions the Mach X 3 for everyday running, training, and racing, and specifically describes it as a plated daily trainer for speedwork and up-tempo sessions. Its product page lists a dual-density midsole with a PEBA top layer, Pebax plate, speed-oriented MetaRocker, and compression-molded sticky rubber. Those are design and intended-use claims, not evidence of race results or superiority over other shoes. HOKA Australia’s Mach X 3 product page
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Bondi 9 vs. Clifton 10: which should you choose?
Both are road-oriented, but HOKA assigns them different emphases: Bondi 9 for plush everyday running and walking; Clifton 10 for daily road training. There is no independent comparison here that establishes which feels softer, more stable, or better for a particular runner.
- Choose between them based on whether walking and a plush feel are priorities (Bondi 9) or a daily road-training role is the better match (Clifton 10).
- Compare the exact regional model’s weight, drop, available widths, and fit before buying. HOKA’s published Bondi and Clifton figures do not use the same unit or specify matching sizes, so they should not be treated as a controlled weight comparison.
What to compare before buying
Product specifications narrow the options, but they cannot tell you how a shoe will feel. Check the listing for your region and version, then consider:
- Terrain and purpose: road miles, walking, technical trails, or faster workouts.
- Fit and width: try the size and width that match your foot where possible; fit options can vary by regional and gendered model.
- Drop, stack, and weight: use specifications published for the exact model and version, rather than assuming figures transfer across sizes or regions.
- Outsole and upper: trail-specific grip and protective details matter for a different use than a road-oriented design.
- Availability: confirm current stock, colors, size range, and price on the local HOKA listing, since these can change.
The consulted official material supports profiles for these four models, not an independently tested eight-shoe ranking. A HOKA EMEA product sheet dated January 13, 2025, identifies models including Mach 6 and Speedgoat 6, but it is neither a current comparative guide nor evidence of a 2026 top-eight list.
