Tesla Cybertruck Discounts Reversed as AWD Prices Rise; Production Cuts Remain Unconfirmed by Tesla

The Cybertruck’s February 2026 price cuts were followed by reported August increases to both AWD trims. Production throttling has been reported, but Tesla does not publish a Cybertruck-only production count in the cited filings.

The Cybertruck’s pricing story has turned: Tesla’s February 2026 discounts included a temporary $59,990 AWD offer and a $15,000 Cyberbeast cut, but Electrek reported that Tesla raised both AWD trim prices by $5,000 in August. Production throttling has also been reported, but Tesla’s public filings do not disclose Cybertruck-only production totals.

What happened to Cybertruck prices?

The headline’s “deeper discounts” describes a February promotion, not a continuing downward price trend. In the United States, Reuters reported on Feb. 19–20, 2026, that Tesla introduced a dual-motor AWD Cybertruck for $59,990 and reduced the Cyberbeast from $114,990 to $99,990. Reuters said Elon Musk described the $59,990 AWD price as effective for the next 10 days; it was a temporary offer, not an enduring list price. Reuters via Investing.com

By Aug. 24–25, Electrek reported increases to the two AWD trims, while the Cyberbeast remained at $99,990. The reported increases were $5,000 apiece, and the article said specifications had not changed. Electrek

Date and source Trim Reported price How to interpret it
Feb. 19–20, 2026, Reuters Dual-motor AWD $59,990 Temporary offer described as lasting 10 days; not a lasting list price.
Feb. 19–20, 2026, Reuters Cyberbeast $99,990, down from $114,990 Reported price reduction of $15,000.
Aug. 24–25, 2026, Electrek Dual Motor AWD $74,990, up from $69,990 Reported configurator price; $5,000 increase.
Aug. 24–25, 2026, Electrek Premium AWD $84,990, up from $79,990 Reported configurator price; $5,000 increase.
Aug. 24–25, 2026, Electrek Cyberbeast $99,990 Reported as unchanged in that update.

What should a buyer compare before calling it a discount?

Compare the same trim, price date, and fee basis. A temporary advertised price, a configurator price, and a purchase price including fees are not interchangeable. The Tesla current-offers page search result displayed a Premium AWD purchase price of $87,235 including order and destination fees, before other listed adjustments; the opened page did not establish the full terms. That figure should not be treated as a directly comparable trim list price. Check Tesla’s current offers and configurator for the live offer and its conditions before making a purchase decision.

  • Confirm the exact trim and whether it is new, eligible for the stated offer, and available in your location.
  • Check whether the quoted amount includes order and destination fees, taxes, registration, or other adjustments.
  • Distinguish a limited-time incentive from the vehicle’s listed price, and verify the offer’s end date and eligibility terms.

Is Tesla cutting Cybertruck production?

Electrek reported that the Cybertruck line was running at roughly 10% of planned capacity and that Tesla was throttling production to avoid inventory buildup. The same report described the plant as built for up to 250,000 units annually. These are the outlet’s reported estimates and capacity comparison, not an official Cybertruck production figure from Tesla. Electrek’s report

Tesla’s Q1 2026 operational table combines Cybertruck with other vehicles in an “Other models” category. It does not disclose a Cybertruck-only quarterly production count, so it cannot verify a precise line rate or establish a quarter-over-quarter Cybertruck production reduction. Capacity, production, and deliveries describe different things: a factory’s stated capacity is not its actual output, and deliveries are not the same as vehicles produced. The available Tesla disclosure does not provide a separate Cybertruck production series that would support a precise numerical trend.

Do Tesla’s overall results explain Cybertruck pricing?

Not on their own. Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K reported company-wide automotive sales revenue down 9% and cash deliveries down approximately 8% for 2025. Tesla attributed lower average selling price per unit to sales mix and higher customer incentives, including attractive financing. Those figures cover the company, not Cybertruck-specific sales or realized prices. Tesla’s 2025 Form 10-K

In its Q2 2026 Form 10-Q, Tesla reported company-wide automotive sales revenue up 27% and cash deliveries up approximately 25% year over year. The filing also said first-half average selling price per unit was higher, primarily due to sales mix and currency effects. Those measures likewise do not establish Cybertruck demand or pricing. What the price and production reports do—and do not—show

  • The $59,990 AWD figure was a reported 10-day promotion in February, not evidence of a standing price.
  • The February Cyberbeast reduction was $15,000, according to Reuters; Electrek later reported it at $99,990, unchanged in its August update.
  • Electrek reported increases to both AWD trims in August, so the chronology is a promotion followed by higher reported AWD prices—not a continuous series of deeper discounts.
  • Production throttling and the roughly 10% capacity estimate are Electrek’s reporting. Tesla’s cited public data does not isolate Cybertruck output.
