Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallAs of October 8, 2026, Tesla’s U.S. configurator listed the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive at $36,990 for the vehicle, or an estimated $38,630 after the displayed destination and order fees, before taxes and other fees. That is a dated configurator example, not a nationwide out-the-door quote. The four configurations Tesla lists differ in range, acceleration, drivetrain, equipment, and battery warranty—so the best value depends on which of those matters to you and the price shown for your delivery ZIP.
How much does a Tesla Model 3 cost?
Tesla’s U.S. configurator showed a Rear-Wheel Drive vehicle price of $36,990 on October 8, 2026. Its example added a $1,390 destination fee and a $250 order fee, for an estimated purchase price of $38,630 before taxes and other fees. The displayed price can vary by delivery location and may change over time; check the live configurator for your ZIP and selected payment method before budgeting. Tesla Model 3 configurator
Tesla’s product page showed starting prices of $38,630 for Standard, $44,130 for Premium, and $56,630 for Performance in its Massachusetts example. The page says these starting prices include destination and order fees but exclude taxes and other fees. They are not a universal quote, and the page’s trim labels do not map one-to-one to every configuration name on Tesla’s comparison page. Tesla Model 3 product page
Lease or financing examples should not be compared with a vehicle price as though they were equivalent. Monthly payments depend on details such as down payment, term, mileage allowance, and financing assumptions; use the configurator’s selected payment view to see the terms behind its estimate.

What are the Model 3 configurations?
Tesla’s U.S. comparison page lists four configurations. The range and acceleration figures below are Tesla-published specifications; range is EPA-estimated, and the 0–60 mph times are manufacturer claims rather than independent test results. Tesla Model 3 comparison
| Configuration | EPA-estimated range | 0–60 mph | Drivetrain | Notable listed distinction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Rear-Wheel Drive | 321 miles | 5.8 seconds | Rear-wheel drive | 15.4-inch center display |
| Premium Rear-Wheel Drive | 363 miles | 4.9 seconds | Rear-wheel drive | Long Range battery; Tesla estimates up to 195 miles added in 15 minutes under its constant-speed estimate |

| Performance All-Wheel Drive | 309 miles | 2.9 seconds | Dual-motor all-wheel drive | 20-inch Warp wheels; Tesla estimates up to 162 miles added in 15 minutes |
Tesla lists seating for five and 24 cubic feet of cargo capacity for all four. Its listed basic vehicle warranty is four years or 50,000 miles. The battery and drive-unit warranty is eight years or 100,000 miles for Standard Rear-Wheel Drive, and eight years or 120,000 miles for the Premium and Performance configurations. Warranty coverage ends when either stated limit is reached; check the terms for the specific vehicle and market.

Which configuration offers the best value?
There is no single best-value trim without a delivery-location price and a buyer’s priorities. Compare configurations at the same ZIP and with the same purchase method, then decide whether the added range, acceleration, drivetrain, or equipment justifies the price difference shown to you.
Choose Standard Rear-Wheel Drive for the lowest listed tier
Standard Rear-Wheel Drive is Tesla’s lowest displayed starting tier in the cited comparison. It has the shortest battery and drive-unit warranty mileage among these four configurations and a 321-mile EPA-estimated range. Compare its live price with Premium Rear-Wheel Drive if longer stated range is worth paying for in your use case.

Consider Premium Rear-Wheel Drive for the highest stated range
At 363 EPA-estimated miles, Premium Rear-Wheel Drive has the highest stated range among the four configurations. It remains rear-wheel drive, and Tesla describes it as having a Long Range battery. It is the natural comparison for a buyer prioritizing stated range over all-wheel drive or the quickest acceleration.
Pay for all-wheel drive or Performance only if those differences matter
Premium All-Wheel Drive adds dual-motor all-wheel drive and an 8-inch rear touchscreen, while its stated range is 346 miles. Performance All-Wheel Drive has the quickest stated 0–60 time—2.9 seconds—and 20-inch Warp wheels, but its 309-mile EPA-estimated range is lower than the other three. Those are trade-offs in Tesla’s published specifications, not guarantees of real-world range or acceleration.

How should you interpret range, charging, and advertised savings?
Tesla labels the listed range figures as EPA estimates. The company says actual range and charging performance vary with factors including vehicle configuration, charging equipment, state of charge, battery temperature, speed, weather, and elevation. Its “miles added in 15 minutes” figures are based on a constant-speed estimate; they are not a promise of the distance every driver will add in ordinary conditions. Tesla Model 3 comparison Tesla Model 3 product page
Tesla also displays estimated gas savings and payment examples. Treat gas-savings figures as estimates based on Tesla’s assumptions, not as a personal total-cost calculation. A meaningful ownership comparison requires your annual mileage, local electricity and gasoline prices, insurance, depreciation, charging-installation costs, taxes, and financing terms—none of which can be inferred from the advertised estimate alone.
Quick Recap
How to get a price you can actually budget for
- Set your delivery ZIP in Tesla’s configurator. Location can affect the displayed price. Choose the configuration and payment view you are considering.
- Separate vehicle price from fees and taxes. Check which destination, order, tax, and other charges appear in your order summary; the cited $38,630 example excludes taxes and other fees.
- Compare configurations on the same basis. Keep delivery location and payment method constant, then weigh the listed range, acceleration, drivetrain, equipment, and warranty differences.
- Add the costs relevant to your setup. Include optional accessories and any home-charging equipment and installation you plan to buy. Do not count a lease or finance payment as the vehicle’s cash price.
