Company-reported figures put the average voice-line increase at around $4 per month, with some increases reaching $6, while T-Mobile said some customers would see no monthly bill change. Your personalized notice and bill, not the name of your plan alone, determine whether your account is affected and what you will pay.
What T-Mobile is changing in 2026
T-Mobile said it is retiring some of its oldest plans, including plans dating nearly 15 years to the 3G and 4G eras, and moving affected customers to newer plans. The company said some customers would see no change to their monthly bill and others a modest adjustment. It also said moved customers would keep current benefits and gain improvements in network and service experiences. The Mobile Report reproduced T-Mobile’s statement; Android Authority also reported the announcement.
This is a distinct 2026 migration event. It should not be confused with the earlier 2024 T-Mobile price-increase news, which covered a different event. Android Authority’s 2026 coverage and MacRumors’ June 29, 2026 report describe the current migration.
Which T-Mobile plans may be affected?
Reports have named Simple Choice, T-Mobile ONE and ONE Plus, and Magenta-family plans among those affected or potentially affected. Older and grandfathered Sprint plans have also been mentioned. T-Mobile has not published a complete official list of affected plans or billing codes in the sources available here, so a plan name alone cannot confirm that your account will move. Look for a personalized notice from T-Mobile and check the plan details shown for your account. MacRumors reported the named plan families and notice process.

How much could your bill change?
MacRumors reported that T-Mobile marketing lead Allan Samson estimated the average increase at around $4 per line per month, with some increases reaching $6. That is an attributed company estimate for the rollout, not a fixed increase for every line or an independently measured average. T-Mobile said some customers would have no monthly bill change. MacRumors’ June 29 report describes the estimate; The Mobile Report reproduced T-Mobile’s statement.
The Mobile Report also described possible monthly increases of $3 for some tablet or wearable lines and $6 for some home internet lines. Its July 1, 2026 report said a migration was expected to take effect July 13, 2026, while warning that plan prices, names, perks, and billing codes could change. Does T-Mobile’s 5-Year Price Guarantee freeze your whole bill?
No. T-Mobile’s Price Lock FAQ says accounts transitioned to a qualifying plan in 2026 are covered by its 5-Year Price Guarantee. For qualifying smartphone plans, the guarantee covers the monthly price for talk, text, and T-Mobile 5G data for five years. The period starts at account activation or, for accounts activated before April 23, 2025, at plan enrollment. See T-Mobile’s Price Lock FAQ.

Compare the actual account-level offer with your current plan before making a voluntary change. T-Mobile warns that changing plans can forfeit promotions associated with the old rate plan, so a lower advertised plan price may not mean a lower total cost for your household. T-Mobile’s FAQ explains the promotion risk.

There is no authoritative one-size-fits-all comparison chart for every affected account in the public reporting cited here. Your own notice and account details are needed to calculate the effect on your household. The Mobile Report notes that plan details may change; T-Mobile’s FAQ warns that plan changes can affect old-plan promotions.
What to do if you receive a migration notice
- Open the personalized notice and your T-Mobile account. Confirm the plan name, line-by-line recurring charges, effective date, and any stated changes to benefits.
- Compare the offer with your current bill. Include discounts, taxes and fees, device payments, and promotions—not just the base plan price.
- Ask T-Mobile to clarify anything missing. Confirm whether each discount, feature, or device promotion continues on the proposed plan and ask what options are available for your account.
- Compare other available plans or carriers if needed. Do not assume that you can keep a retired plan or that switching will save money; eligibility and total costs vary, and the cited reporting does not establish a universal opt-out process.
What is not yet established publicly
The cited public reporting does not provide a complete official migration roster, a current price table for every affected account, or a universal way to opt out and keep a retired plan. T-Mobile’s notice and your account-specific plan information are therefore the evidence to use for your own charges and timing.
