Costco Canada briefly appeared to let shoppers add Nintendo Switch 2 consoles to cart and attempt checkout before Nintendo’s announced Canadian preorder date. The early opportunity was unreliable: a contemporaneous report said the standalone console did not appear to work in the reporter’s checkout attempt, while the Mario Kart World bundle did, and shoppers later reported checkout errors. This was an April 24, 2025 news event—not a dependable preorder window or a current offer.
What happened at Costco Canada
On April 24, 2025, MobileSyrup reported that Costco Canada search results briefly allowed shoppers to add Switch 2 consoles to cart and try to check out ahead of Nintendo’s official Canadian preorder start. In the reporter’s attempt, the standalone console did not seem to work, but the Mario Kart World bundle proceeded through checkout. The report was updated at 11:01 p.m. ET (8:01 p.m. PT) to note that people were reporting checkout errors and that both consoles might have sold out. MobileSyrup’s April 24 report describes checkout attempts, not a guaranteed order for every shopper.

Neither Costco nor Nintendo announced an early opening in the cited coverage. The duration of the apparent opening, how many orders succeeded, and whether those orders were ultimately fulfilled are not established. A cart or checkout screen alone would not confirm a completed purchase; an order confirmation would be the practical evidence that an individual order had been placed.
Nintendo’s official Canadian preorder dates and prices
Nintendo of Canada announced on April 18, 2025 that retail preorders in Canada would begin April 24, 2025, and that Switch 2 would launch June 5, 2025. The announced Canadian MSRPs were $629.99 for the standalone console and $699.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle. These are the official prices stated in Nintendo’s April 18, 2025 announcement, not a claim about Costco’s current price or availability. Nintendo of Canada’s announcement said: “We apologize for the retail pre-order delay. We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025.”

What Costco’s current listing shows
Costco.ca’s product page currently lists a bundle containing the console, a 256GB microSD Express card, and a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack individual membership code. The listing is not evidence that the April 2025 preorder is still active, and its stock, price, shipping terms, and bundle contents can change. Check the live page before deciding whether to buy. Costco.ca’s Switch 2 bundle listing states that standard shipping is included, estimates delivery in 7–10 business days from order, and notes that availability and shipping details may vary by region.

How to assess a retailer listing before ordering
For a current purchase, compare the item actually offered—not just a search result or product title—against what you need and the price you are willing to pay. Nintendo’s retailer directory includes Costco Canada, Best Buy Canada, GameStop Canada, Walmart Canada, and Amazon Canada, but directory inclusion does not establish current stock or a particular offer. Nintendo’s Canadian retailer directory can help locate retailers; confirm the item page and fulfilment terms directly with the seller.

- Confirm the item and bundle contents. Distinguish a console-only listing from the Mario Kart World bundle or Costco’s currently displayed bundle, which includes a memory card and membership code.
- Check the total and fulfilment details. Review the current price, regional availability, shipping estimate, and any order limits or conditions shown at checkout.
- Look for a completed order. A successful cart action is not the same as an order confirmation. Keep the confirmation and review the retailer’s order status if checkout was interrupted.
- Verify accessories separately. Nintendo’s 2025 Canadian price list names accessories including a Pro Controller, Joy-Con 2 accessories, camera, dock set, carrying cases, AC adapter, and a 256GB microSD Express card.
