The notice advertised 425 Pharmacist posts, but the latest located Board planner, updated 19 November 2025, lists 630 tentative vacancies and marks the recruitment “Court case pending.” That planner does not establish whether an exam, result or selection process has since advanced. Check the MRB notifications page for any newer official update.
What happened to the 425 Pharmacist posts?
MRB’s Notification No.04/MRB/2025, dated 17 February 2025, invited online applications for temporary direct recruitment to Pharmacist posts in the Tamil Nadu Medical Subordinate Service. Registration and payment were due by 10 March 2025; that deadline has passed, so the 2025 notice is not an open application opportunity.
The vacancy figures differ because they come from separate dated documents. The notification stated 425 posts, said distribution would be announced later, and noted that the number could change before appointment. MRB’s Tentative Annual Recruitment Planner, updated 19 November 2025, listed 630 tentative Pharmacist vacancies. The planner figure is tentative, not a final appointment count.

What is the latest known recruitment status?
The latest located planner entry labels Pharmacist recruitment “Court case pending.” It does not identify the proceeding or establish a later examination date, result, or selection list. Accordingly, the available official record does not support describing the recruitment as currently active, cancelled, completed, or scheduled as of 8 October 2026.
There was an earlier court case: in an order dated 22 April 2025 in W.P. No.7363 of 2025, the Madras High Court said the notification need not be quashed, the Board could proceed with the examination, and the petition was disposed of. That order does not explain the later planner’s “Court case pending” entry, which may relate to a separate or later proceeding. Read the order.
For any subsequent notice, use MRB’s official notifications listing; the 19 November 2025 planner alone cannot establish what happened after its update.

These are the 2025 notice’s requirements, not confirmation of eligibility for any future recruitment.
What age limits applied in the 2025 notice?
The notice used 1 July 2025 as the age reference date and set a minimum age of 18. Its stated maximum ages were category-specific:

What tests and selection method did MRB specify?
The notice prescribed a qualifying Tamil eligibility test and a separate subject-based Pharmacist computer-based test (CBT). The Tamil test was at SSLC standard and lasted one hour. It carried 50 marks, with a 40% minimum qualifying mark; the notification set separate minimum qualifying marks for SC/SCA/ST candidates and other candidates. Differently abled candidates were exempt from the Tamil test under the government order cited in the notice.
The Pharmacist CBT was a two-hour, 100-mark objective test. Subject questions were in English at Diploma-in-Pharmacy standard. MRB stated: “The question will be in the standard of Diploma level in Pharmacy.” The notification said there would be no negative marks and no oral test.
