What the 2025 headline meant
Scroll published the notice on April 18, 2025, describing April 19 as the last day for ordinary POLYCET-2025 registration and April 21 as the late-fee application deadline. The phrase “tomorrow” was accurate only on the notice’s publication date. Read Scroll’s archived 2025 notice.
Those dates belong to the 2025 cycle. They should not be used to decide whether registration is open for a later exam, and this notice does not establish the 2025 fee amounts or exam-day requirements.
POLYCET-2026 had a different schedule—and has ended
The State Board of Technical Education and Training, Telangana (SBTET), published a separate schedule for POLYCET-2026. Registration began February 2, 2026; the regular-fee deadline was April 20, late-fee applications could be completed through April 21, and Tatkal-fee applications through April 22. The examination was held May 13, 2026. These dates are also past as of October 8, 2026.

SBTET’s POLYCET-2026 detailed notification is the source for the 2026 schedule and charges. Those figures are cycle-specific and should not be carried over to a future application.
What POLYCET is for
SBTET describes POLYCET as an entrance test for diploma courses in engineering and non-engineering or technology at Telangana polytechnics. The 2026 notification also included agricultural diploma courses at Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, horticultural diploma courses at Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University, and animal-husbandry and fisheries courses at PV Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University. It invited candidates who had passed or were appearing for a recognized SSC or equivalent examination.
Eligibility details can differ by course and cycle. The 2026 instruction booklet said there was no age restriction for appearing in POLYCET, while noting that scholarship eligibility may have a maximum-age rule and that specific university diploma courses may have their own age limits. For POLYCET-2026, SBTET set the regular registration fee at ₹250 for SC/ST candidates and ₹500 for other candidates. The notification listed an additional ₹100 late fee and a ₹300 Tatkal fee. These are 2026 charges, not confirmed fees for 2025 or a future cycle.

It prohibited logbooks, tables, calculators, tablets, cell phones, and other communicable or programmable electronic gadgets. The notification states: “The Hall Ticket issued is an important document.” These are instructions for the 2026 exam; use the applicable cycle’s instructions for any later test.

How to check for a future application cycle
- Go to the official SBTET website and look for a current POLYCET notification or application link.
- Confirm the cycle year, application start date, regular deadline, any late-fee or Tatkal deadlines and charges, exam date, eligibility rules, and required documents in that cycle’s official notification.
- Use only the application and help-desk route published for that cycle. The 2026 brief notification listed 08031404549 and [email protected]; SBTET separately lists [email protected] with the same phone number. Verify contact details on the official site before relying on them.
- After applying, keep the hall ticket and follow the current exam instructions. Admission is through web counselling: candidates can choose courses and polytechnics in preference order, and allotment is based on merit and applicable admission rules. The 2026 notification said counselling details would be announced after results.
