The headline figure of 6,244 belongs to a different recruitment cycle: the TNPSC revised annual examination planner for 2024 listed 6,244 vacancies for Group IV. It is not the current 2026 vacancy count. The original 2024 figure is in the Commission’s revised Annual Planner for Programme of Examinations 2024.
When is the TNPSC Group 4 exam?
The written examination is scheduled for 10 January 2027, according to the current listing on the TNPSC portal. Check the official portal for any subsequent notice that changes the schedule.

- Use the 2026 notification. Confirm the educational and other eligibility requirements for the specific post you want. Requirements from an earlier Group 4 cycle may not apply.
- Follow the current application instructions. The portal provides the current notification in Tamil and English. Refer to it for required information, documents, fees, and any exemptions that apply.
- Review your application before submission. Make sure the post and details you enter are correct, and retain the confirmation or other application record provided by the portal.
- Plan preparation around the current syllabus. If you use a guidebook or practice material, check that it matches Notification No. 11/2026 and the current examination pattern; an older edition may not reflect current requirements.
The prior 2025 notification instructed applicants to read the Commission’s Instructions to Applicants and said admission was provisional. Those are prior-cycle directions, not a substitute for the 2026 notification. For this application, use the instructions attached to Notification No. 11/2026.
