Not on the evidence TSMC has published for Q2 2026. The company reported that its broad high-performance computing (HPC) platform generated 66% of revenue, compared with 22% for smartphones. But HPC includes more than AI, and TSMC did not disclose a comparable Q2 2026 figure for AI-accelerator revenue. The platform figures show that HPC is much larger than smartphones; they do not prove that AI hardware alone has overtaken smartphone chips.
What TSMC’s Q2 2026 revenue mix says
In its Q2 2026 results, TSMC reported the following shares of revenue by platform:
| Platform | Share of Q2 2026 revenue | Quarter-over-quarter change |
|---|---|---|
| High-performance computing (HPC) | 66% | Up 20% |
| Smartphone | 22% | Down 4% |
These are company-reported platform figures, not a breakdown of individual chip types. On that like-for-like basis—platform share against platform share for the same quarter—HPC was three times the size of the smartphone platform. The quarter-over-quarter changes describe each platform’s revenue change, not changes in its percentage share.
Why HPC is not the same as AI revenue
HPC is a broad platform category. It includes AI-related business, but TSMC does not identify all HPC revenue as AI revenue or publish a Q2 2026 AI-only share in the reviewed results. Calling the full 66% “AI revenue” would therefore overstate what the figures establish.

- ✅Scalable, enabling simultaneous processing of multi-streams & multi-models
- ✅Enabling real-time, low latency and high-efficiency AI inferencing on the edge devices
- ✅Supports TensorFlow, TensorFlow Lite, ONNX, Keras, Pytorch frameworks
- ✅Supports Linux and Windows. Supports the temperature range of -40°C to 85°C
TSMC’s defined AI-accelerator category comprises AI GPUs, AI ASICs and HBM controllers used for data-center training and inference. That is narrower than HPC: the platform also covers non-AI uses, while the accelerator category identifies particular products and components.
What TSMC has said about AI accelerators
The latest explicit AI-accelerator revenue share located in the company’s reviewed materials was a historical figure: close to the mid-teens as a percentage of total revenue in 2024, disclosed on TSMC’s January 2025 earnings call. It is not a 2026 figure and should not be compared with Q2 2026 smartphone revenue as if both numbers covered the same period.

On the Q2 2026 call, chairman and CEO C.C. Wei described AI growth qualitatively, saying it was “stronger and stronger and stronger.” That was not a numerical forecast, and it does not supply the missing AI-only revenue comparison.
TSMC Q4 2024 earnings materials
How large is TSMC’s business overall?
TSMC reported US$122.42 billion in 2025 revenue, up 35.9% year over year, and US$55.21 billion in net income. Its 2025 annual report also said 3nm technology accounted for 24% of total wafer revenue and advanced technologies—defined as 7nm and more advanced—accounted for 74%.
Those figures give context for the scale and technology mix of the business, but they do not show how much revenue came from AI. TSMC said advanced-technology demand was driven by smartphone, HPC, automotive and IoT applications, not just AI.
What the technology roadmap adds—and what it does not
TSMC reported that 2nm entered high-volume manufacturing in Q4 2025. Its 2025 annual report scheduled N2P and A16 volume production for the second half of 2026 and A14 for 2028. These are company schedules, not evidence that any one technology node or platform will produce a particular level of AI revenue.

Manufacturing technology helps explain how TSMC serves demand across several end markets, but it cannot substitute for a disclosed revenue split. A node’s production timing does not tell investors how much of its output is used for AI rather than other applications.

TSMC’s numbers support a conclusion about its business mix, not a direct investment recommendation: HPC is the largest reported platform in Q2 2026, while the company’s published figures do not isolate the quarter’s AI-accelerator revenue. Anyone assessing AI exposure should keep the distinction between a broad platform and a narrower product category in view.

TSMC is a pure-play foundry: it manufactures products for customers rather than selling chips under its own brand. The chips it makes are designed and marketed by its customers, so TSMC’s platform revenue should not be confused with retail sales of TSMC-branded processors.
