ESC makes and assembles high-reliability electronics for aerospace, defense and space customers. The announcement did not disclose the purchase price or Sverica’s ownership percentage.
What Sverica announced
Sverica Capital Management LP announced its investment in ESC on October 22, 2024, four days after the stated investment date. Ropes & Gray, which represented Sverica, said the financial terms were not disclosed. Ropes & Gray’s announcement therefore does not establish the deal’s price or the portion of ESC acquired.
A later financing announcement added context without providing a transaction value: on November 7, 2024, Avante Capital Partners said it completed a unitranche debt and equity co-investment supporting Sverica’s portfolio investment in ESC. Avante did not state the amount. Avante’s announcement describes the financing structure, not the price paid for ESC.
Lincoln International’s transaction profile says ESC founder and chairman Scott Alyn engaged Lincoln to find a new ownership partner and that Sverica emerged from the process. It does not report bid terms or a sale price. Lincoln International’s profile also reports that Sverica had raised nearly $2 billion across six funds; that is a firm-level fundraising figure, not the value of the ESC investment.

What Electronic Source Company makes and does
In the 2024 announcement, ESC was described as a Van Nuys, California-based electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company serving aerospace, defense and space markets. It makes high-reliability circuit card assemblies and offers a broader, turnkey electronics assembly service.

That combination positions ESC as a contract manufacturing and engineering partner for organizations developing specialized electronics, rather than as a consumer electronics retailer. The company announcement said ESC was founded by Scott Alyn in 1994. It also described ESC at that time as ITAR-registered and Nadcap- and AS9100D-accredited; those are claims in the 2024 announcement, not independently verified current credentials. What the named programs do—and do not—tell readers
Sverica’s announcement said ESC served prime and Tier 1 defense and space contractors on programs including the F-18, F-35, F-16, C-130, H-60 Blackhawk, AH-64 Apache, Boeing 787, Patriot Missile, Orion deep space capsule, Mars Rover and International Space Station.

The announcement does not identify ESC’s exact components, the contract value for any program, or the customer relationship behind each one. The program list is evidence of the markets and applications the company said it supported; it does not establish that ESC contracted directly with a government agency, aircraft manufacturer or other named program owner.
Leadership described at the time of the investment
The October 2024 announcement said Chris Sorby would continue as president. It also named Sverica Managing Partner Dave Finley, Sverica Principal Greg Hylant, founder Scott Alyn and former Primus Technologies CEO Steve Stone as joining ESC’s board. This records the board and leadership plans announced then; it is not confirmation of today’s roles.

Sverica Principal Greg Hylant called ESC “a trusted partner to defense prime contractors” in the announcement. That is an investor’s characterization, not an independent assessment. Scott Alyn’s announcement remarks likewise presented the investment as a source of capital and stewardship for the company.

The former electronic-source.com domain now redirects to Avalir. Avalir’s current website presents aerospace and defense, space, and medical-device markets, and lists NPI, circuit card assembly, box build, testing, supply-chain and material management, manufacturing engineering, tape-and-reel services, tin mitigation and lead forming. The available information does not establish when ESC adopted the Avalir name, so the redirect alone should not be treated as a dated rebranding announcement. Avalir’s current website reflects the company’s present public-facing branding and service list.

For readers assessing the investment, the key unanswered financial details remain the purchase price, the ownership percentage and the amount of Avante’s co-investment. The cited announcements also do not quantify ESC’s revenue, the value of its contracts, or the contribution it made to each named program.
