During the 28 June 2023 presale for Taylor Swift’s 2024 Australian Eras Tour shows, fans reported Ticketek site problems. Ticketek said customers were successfully purchasing tickets and advised people in its online Lounge not to refresh. The Australian tour has since concluded, so those reports do not describe a current sale; Ticketek’s waitlist is for future updates, not a ticket booking.
What happened during the 28 June 2023 presale?
The Frontier Touring presale covered Taylor Swift’s 2024 Melbourne and Sydney shows. PerthNow reported that more than one million fans were competing for 450,000 tickets, that the website crashed minutes into the sale, and that Ticketek later said the site was working and customers were purchasing tickets. These are the report’s account of demand and the site incident, not a count of completed purchases.
Ticketek’s statement, quoted by PerthNow, said: “Customers are successfully purchasing. Please be patient and don’t refresh your browser.” It also advised fans to have their account and payment details ready and said the page refreshed itself to let more people through. PerthNow reported Ticketek’s response on 28 June 2023.
The Guardian reported that more than four million users sought access to the Sydney and Melbourne presales that day, with more than 800,000 people in the Lounge queue at 8:30am. It also reported Ticketek’s claim that it had repelled more than half a billion bot attempts. The figures describe access demand, a queue at a particular time, and bot attempts as reported by the outlet; they do not establish how many people bought tickets. The Guardian quoted a Ticketek spokesperson saying “queuing is a necessary part of the purchasing process.” The Guardian’s 28 June 2023 report gives that separate account.

Should you refresh the Ticketek Lounge page?
No. Ticketek’s current guidance is to leave the Lounge page open and let it refresh automatically. Refreshing yourself may disrupt your place in the process; opening several browsers, tabs, windows, or devices can also slow access or interfere with booking. A queue position is not a guarantee that tickets will remain available when you reach checkout.
Prepare before the sale
- Check the event page and the artist, venue, or promoter’s official channels for the sale time, ticket limits, and conditions.
- Sign in close to the sale time with your account and payment details ready. Ticketek warns that logging in too early can lead to a timeout and loss of place.
- Use one browser window and device rather than opening multiple tabs or sessions.
- When the Lounge appears, do not refresh; wait for it to advance automatically.
- Complete checkout within the stated time limit. Ticketek says tickets may be released if checkout is not finished in time.
These are queue-management recommendations, not a way to bypass demand or secure a ticket. See Ticketek’s On-Sale Information for its current guidance.

Are Taylor Swift tickets for the Australian Eras Tour still available?
No current Australian Eras Tour sale is indicated: Ticketek says the tour has left Australia. Its page offers a waitlist for information about a possible future visit. Joining that list is not a booking, does not reserve a ticket, and does not confirm that another Australian date will be announced. Check Ticketek’s Taylor Swift page for its current status and waitlist.

For the Eras Tour, the ACCC identified Ticketek Marketplace as the authorised resale channel. It warned that scammers may use compromised social-media accounts to offer tickets, sometimes claiming they are being sold “at cost” or pressing buyers to act quickly. A seller may then request payment or a fee to change the name on a ticket, after which no valid ticket arrives.

On 24 January 2024, the ACCC said Scamwatch had received 273 reports of people scammed while buying Taylor Swift tickets through social media since Australian tickets went on sale in June 2023; reported losses exceeded $135,000 at that point. Those are dated report totals, not current figures. The ACCC’s Deputy Chair said the safest way to obtain legitimate tickets was through Ticketek Marketplace. Read the ACCC’s 24 January 2024 warning.
