The recruitment was announced under Notification No. 11/MRB/2025 for the Tamil Nadu Medical Subordinate Service. The notice advertised Level 11 pay of Rs. 35,400–130,400, subject to its terms.
What was the last date to apply?
The notification, dated 10 July 2025, set 30 July 2025 as the final date for online registration and fee payment. The phrase “today” in closing-day coverage referred to that date, not the current date. Applications for this 2025 notice are no longer open. Official notification No. 11/MRB/2025 and the MRB recruitment listing are the appropriate places to check for subsequent recruitment-stage updates.
How many posts and what was the pay?
The board advertised 60 Laboratory Technician Grade II vacancies in the Tamil Nadu Medical Subordinate Service. It described the number as indicative and liable to change before selection was finalized. The stated pay scale was Level 11, Rs. 35,400–130,400; this is the scale in the notification, not a guarantee of take-home pay.
What qualification did candidates need?
The standard qualification was a two-year Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) conducted by the King Institute of Preventive Medicine or another institution recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu for this purpose. The qualification had to be held on the notification date, 10 July 2025.
#1 Best Overall
If candidates with the two-year diploma were unavailable, the notification permitted appointment of candidates holding a one-year Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (CMLT) from an institution recognized by the state for this purpose. This was a conditional alternative, not an equal route guaranteed to be considered in every case. The full eligibility and recruitment notice sets out further conditions.
What were the age limits?
Age was assessed as of 1 July 2025. The notice set a minimum age of 18 and an upper age of 32 for OC candidates. It listed no maximum age for named reserved categories, but defined “no maximum age limit” to mean the candidate must not have completed 60 years by 1 July 2025 or by the date of appointment. It listed upper ages of 42 for differently abled candidates and 48 for ex-servicemen. Statutory restrictions and category-specific provisions also applied, so these summary figures do not replace the full notification.
Was there an interview? How was selection done?
The notification provided for selection based on marks in academic and technical qualifications, along with reservation and communal-rotation rules. It said there would be no oral test or interview.
For candidates with the two-year DMLT qualification, the stated weighting was:
Rank #3
- 50% for DMLT marks
- 30% for HSC/PUC marks
- 20% for SSLC/10th marks
If marks were not specifically awarded for a DMLT batch, selection was to be based on SSLC and HSC/PUC marks.
What fees and application conditions applied?
For the expired 2025 application, the fee was Rs. 300 for SC/SCA/ST and differently abled candidates, and Rs. 600 for other candidates. Applications were online only. Applicants were instructed to upload a scanned colour photograph and signature, state relevant claims, and upload supporting evidence with the application. Incomplete or incorrect applications could be rejected. The notice also said completed applications could not be withdrawn and fees would not be refunded or adjusted.
Rank #4
These were requirements for Notification No. 11/MRB/2025, not instructions to apply now.

How can you avoid confusing this notice with another MRB post?
MRB also listed Notification No. 10/MRB/2025 for Laboratory Technician Grade II in the Tamil Nadu Food Safety Subordinate Service. That was a separate recruitment with two posts and a 29 July 2025 deadline, not part of the 60-post Medical Subordinate Service recruitment. Check the notification number, service, vacancy count, deadline, qualification and selection rules when reviewing MRB notices. Separate Food Safety Subordinate Service notice details.
