Ross’s Auctioneers & Valuers held its online Star Wars collectibles auction in Welshpool, Western Australia, in May 2024. The sale opened on May 4 and its auction stages closed on May 14. PerthNow reported more than 1,000 pieces from a single vendor and a pre-sale estimate of $20,000–$30,000 for the collection; that estimate was not a confirmed sale total.
What was the May the Fourth Star Wars auction?
It was a past online auction run by Ross’s Auctioneers & Valuers, not an upcoming May 4 event. The sale began at 12:01 a.m. on May 4, 2024, and its stages closed on May 14. PerthNow described the collection as more than 1,000 items from one vendor, accumulated over a lifetime. PerthNow’s report and the auctioneer’s archived catalog document the event.
What collectibles were included?
The catalog featured Star Wars figures from Kenner and Hasbro ranges. Examples included The Vintage Collection, The Black Series, The Saga Collection and The Clone Wars, alongside other lines. Named character lots included Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Darth Vader, R5-D4 and Boba Fett. PerthNow reported that Ross’s representative Warren Henry highlighted Kenner figures, saying: “A lot of the (figurines) have been made by Kenner, which was one of the original makers of Star Wars figurines so to have the Kenner name attached to them will be the big thing.”
Individual closed bids in the catalog show what particular lots attracted at that sale, not the value of the whole collection or a general market price. For example, a Luke Skywalker (Death Star Escape) figure was listed at $60 and a Darth Vader figure at $85 in Stage 1. These are lot-level bids from the archived sale; they should not be treated as current valuations or evidence of an aggregate auction result. Ross’s archived catalog provides the lot descriptions and recorded bids.

How much was the collection expected to raise?
PerthNow reported a potential whole-collection value of $20,000–$30,000, attributed to the pre-sale estimate. The available reporting does not provide a verified final aggregate hammer total, so the estimate should not be presented as the amount raised. Some individual lots have recorded bids, but those do not establish the sale-wide result.
What were the auction’s buyer terms?
The following terms applied to this specific 2024 event and are not a guide to future Ross’s auctions:

- Certificate of authenticity on the back
- Buyer’s premium: 16.50% according to the archived catalog.
- Payment: buyers were required to pay within 24 hours.
- Inspection: listed sessions were May 6 and May 13.
- Collection: the catalog specified a May 15–17 pickup window at the Welshpool Complex, 453 Orrong Road, Western Australia. Collection was the buyer’s responsibility; buyers outside the area were directed to arrange a courier.
These details matter when interpreting an auction bid: the hammer bid is not necessarily the buyer’s full cost, and pickup or courier arrangements can add practical expense. For any later auction, check its own catalog for current fees, payment deadlines, inspection access and delivery arrangements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should collectors take from the archived results?
The catalog is useful as a record of what was offered and how particular lots were described, but it is not a standalone pricing guide. A comparison with a retail figure—or with another auction lot—requires matching the exact character and model, product line, condition, packaging and description, then accounting for the buyer’s premium and collection or shipping costs. The 2024 catalog does not establish a general market-value benchmark.
