When Did Berkshire Hathaway Acquire TTI?

Berkshire Hathaway announced its agreement to acquire TTI on December 22, 2006, and completed the acquisition on March 30, 2007. The deal included Mouser Electronics, but its terms were not disclosed.

Berkshire Hathaway agreed to acquire TTI, Inc. on December 22, 2006, and completed the purchase on March 30, 2007. TTI says it is now a wholly owned Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary. The announced deal also included Mouser Electronics; the purchase price and other terms were not disclosed.

When did Berkshire Hathaway acquire TTI?

The transaction had two key dates: Berkshire Hathaway announced the agreement on December 22, 2006, and recorded the acquisition as completed on March 30, 2007. The agreement announcement was not the closing date.

  • December 22, 2006: Berkshire Hathaway and TTI announced a definitive acquisition agreement. Berkshire Hathaway’s announcement said TTI would become a wholly owned subsidiary.
  • March 30, 2007: Berkshire Hathaway’s 2007 annual report records the acquisition as completed.

TTI’s current profile lists 8,000+ employees, 136+ locations worldwide, and 13 major distribution centers. These are company-published figures on the profile accessed October 8, 2026; the page does not date the metrics.

Did Berkshire Hathaway also acquire Mouser Electronics?

Yes. The December 2006 announcement said TTI subsidiary Mouser Electronics was included in the acquisition. TTI’s current family-of-specialists page describes Mouser as a distributor of semiconductors and electronic components.

At closing in 2007, TTI Chairman and CEO Paul Andrews said, “The deal is complete and TTI and Mouser are honored to be part of the distinguished Berkshire Hathaway family.” He also anticipated “a smooth and seamless transition internally as well as for our customers and suppliers.” Those were statements made at the time of closing, not guarantees about current operations. The December 22, 2006 announcement said the terms were not disclosed. It did not publish a purchase price, so the amount cannot be established from that announcement.

What changed when the deal closed?

The public announcements emphasized continuity: TTI management was to remain in place, and day-to-day activities were expected to continue under existing leadership. At closing, TTI reported that Andrews remained chairman and CEO. These details describe the transition as announced in 2006–2007; they do not by themselves establish TTI’s current management arrangements.
