It aims to connect startup founders, angel investors and venture capitalists through both capital and services such as fundraising support, investor education and deal analysis. McDonald’s emphasis is on business execution and profitability—not simply the next valuation increase.
What is Ecosystem Venture Group?
GeekWire reported on April 8, 2025, that McDonald was leading Ecosystem Venture Group, a group combining startup investment with support for entrepreneurs and investors. McDonald described the startup-financing landscape as fragmented: angels, venture capitalists and founders can operate in separate circles. The group’s stated aim is to help those participants work together so companies can find support and investors can assess opportunities.
The organization’s official website currently describes it as an early-stage investment firm bridging venture capital and private equity. It lists strategic investment analysis, operational support, and services for founders and investors. The description signals a broad approach, but does not establish a fully disclosed investment mandate or fund terms.
How does it aim to connect founders, angels and VCs?
The model extends beyond providing capital. The official site lists entrepreneur advisory, training, capitalization and fundraising support, investor education, deal and due-diligence support, mentorship, and events. These offerings address different points in the financing process: founders may need help preparing to raise money, while investors may need education or support evaluating a deal.

GeekWire’s April 2025 report also described founder advisory and training, investor education and deal-analysis support. McDonald framed the underlying goal as cooperation across groups that often focus on their own interests: “Ecosystem Venture Group works to bridge that together, because when the ecosystem works together, everyone benefits.”
What kinds of businesses does McDonald say the group wants to support?
McDonald told GeekWire she wanted to help businesses reach a path to profitability and help companies acquire profitable businesses. She contrasted that focus with businesses seeking very large rounds: “If a company needs to go raise $100 million, we are not the fund for you.” That statement is her description of fit, not a published threshold or complete eligibility rule.

Her stated emphasis is on execution as well as financing. “It’s not just about the next valuation inflection point,” she said. “It’s actually about execution.” The sources do not specify investment sizes, sectors, ownership requirements, return targets or an application process, so founders should not infer those details from the broad positioning alone.
Who is Brianna McDonald?
GeekWire described McDonald as having led the Northwest chapter of Keiretsu Forum for nearly two decades and more recently launching NW Angel with her husband, Nathan McDonald. The report said Ecosystem Venture Group had six employees at the time it was published; that is a historical figure, not a confirmed current headcount.
Where is the group based, and what is known about its current status?
GeekWire reported that the group was based at Seattle’s WRF Venture Center and intended to work with U.S. companies and clients through a national partner network. The official website currently lists a Seattle address at the WRF Venture Center.
The April 2025 report said a fund was planned for later that year. The sources available here do not confirm whether it launched, nor do they establish current staffing, event dates, portfolio companies, investment returns or program eligibility. The group’s current website confirms that it lists services and a Seattle address, but those details alone do not verify the historical plans.
