SSC CHSL 2024 registration is closed. The application window ended at 11:00 p.m. on 7 May 2024, so candidates cannot use these dates to apply now. This guide explains the original online process and eligibility rules; check the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) website for later examination notices.

What SSC CHSL 2024 covered

The Staff Selection Commission’s Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2024 recruited for Group C posts, including Lower Divisional Clerk/Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDC/JSA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO) roles across central government ministries, departments and other bodies. SSC listed approximately 3,712 tentative vacancies and said the firm number would be determined later. See the official SSC CHSL 2024 notice for the complete post and vacancy details.

Key dates and fee

Event 2024 schedule or amount
Applications open 8 April 2024
Application submission deadline 7 May 2024, 11:00 p.m.
Online fee deadline 8 May 2024, 11:00 p.m.
Correction window 10–11 May 2024, closing at 11:00 p.m. on 11 May
Application fee ₹100, unless exempt
First correction charge ₹200
Second correction charge ₹500

These are historical dates and charges from the SSC 2024 notice, not an active application schedule. The notice initially placed Tier-I in June–July 2024 and said the Tier-II schedule would be notified later; exam dates were tentative.

How the 2024 application process worked

Applications were submitted online through SSC. The notice required candidates to create a One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website before filling out the examination form; an OTR made on the former ssc.nic.in website did not work on the new site.

  1. Create an OTR: Register on the new SSC site, ssc.gov.in. Existing registration on the previous site was not transferable for this process.
  2. Complete the examination form: Enter the requested details and use the Preview/Print option to review every field before submission. The SSC notice instructed applicants to check the form carefully.
  3. Provide the required images: The photograph had to be a clear live image, taken against a plain background, facing forward, without a cap or spectacles. The scanned signature had to be JPEG/JPG, 10–20 KB and approximately 4.0 cm wide by 2.0 cm high. Blurred or otherwise unacceptable images could result in rejection.
  4. Pay the fee, if applicable: The fee was ₹100. The notice listed BHIM UPI, net banking and supported card networks as payment methods. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates were exempt.
  5. Check that payment was received: SSC warned that if the fee did not reach the Commission, the application could be treated as incomplete and rejected.

Every procedure and image requirement above comes from the official examination notice.

Who was eligible

Age limit

The general age limit was 18–27 years as of 1 August 2024. That meant candidates born from 2 August 1997 through 1 August 2006 met the stated general age range, subject to the notice’s category-based upper-age relaxations. The applicable limit depended on the candidate’s category and circumstances; consult the full SSC notice rather than applying the general limit to every applicant.

Education

For LDC/JSA and most DEO posts, candidates needed to have passed the 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. DEO/DEO Grade A posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and the Ministry of Culture required 12th Standard in Science with Mathematics. The required qualification had to be held by 1 August 2024.

What the correction window allowed

During the 10–11 May 2024 correction window, candidates could correct and resubmit the form twice. The first correction cost ₹200 and the second cost ₹500. If a candidate submitted more than one corrected version, the latest corrected application was treated as valid. The window and charges applied only to the 2024 cycle and have expired.

Where to check for a later cycle

SSC’s current homepage carries notices for subsequent examination cycles, including a CHSL 2025 final-result notice. For current dates, eligibility and application instructions, use the SSC site rather than relying on the closed 2024 schedule. The full 2024 notice remains the source for its historical rules, including detailed category relaxations, disability provisions, examination scheme, document verification and post-specific conditions.
