Short answer: SafeCard is marketed as a passive RFID/NFC-blocking card, but the available sources do not independently verify that it blocks card communications in real-world use. That is not proof that it works—or that it cannot work. Visa’s guidance offers useful context about Visa contactless payments, but it is not a test of SafeCard.

What is SafeCard?

A March 27, 2025 release attributed to SafeCard describes it as a thin card designed to sit in a wallet and block RFID/NFC signals. The release says it needs no battery or setup and creates a protective field. These are the seller’s claims, not independently measured product specifications. The SafeCard-attributed release also includes purported verified-buyer testimonials, but it does not establish their provenance or explain how to verify them independently.

The release’s disclaimer says, “While SafeCard may help reduce the risk of RFID-based digital theft, no security product can guarantee 100% protection in all scenarios.” This is the company’s wording, not a finding from an independent evaluation.

Is SafeCard proven to work?

No independent laboratory report, disclosed test method, or third-party performance result for SafeCard is established by the available sources. Without those, there is no sound basis to say how well it blocks communication, which cards or frequencies it covers, or how it performs when placed in different parts of a wallet.

SaiTech IT 5 Pack RFID Blocking Card for Credit Debit ID Card, Black
  • SECURE YOUR WALLET FROM e-PICKPOCKETING: Prevent potential identity and financial theft through your contactless cards. This is the simplest and most effective prevention solution! Block RFID and NFC signals, protect your personal information, and enjoy peace of mind wherever your travels or business take you.
  • JAMMING CHIP: An antenna and jamming chip makes up the main components of the card. The antenna will sense incoming radio waves and draw power for the chip to create a jamming signal. Lifetime usage as the card does not require battery.
  • BROAD WORKING DISTANCE: With a 2.4” working distance, your entire wallet stays protected. The premium RFID blocking card helps secure cards within 1.2” on either side, providing reliable protection against electronic pickpocketing.
  • ULTRA-THIN & COMPACT: At the size of a standard credit card and at only 0.03” thick, the card will fit into any wallet, purse or card case. Keep your wallet compact with no added bulk from this card. Best for travel, business, and everyday use.
  • TEST THE CARD: Test the card is working at your local supermarket. At the self-service checkout machines, combine the card and a contactless card on the payment reader. Payment with the contactless card will be blocked and an error message should occur on the reader.

That evidence gap does not establish that SafeCard is a scam or that the underlying concept cannot work. It means buyers should treat the product’s protection claims as unverified rather than as proven security.

What Visa says about contactless-card risk

Visa says its contactless payments use short-range wireless communication and that a Visa card generally needs to be within about 1 to 2 inches of a payment terminal to initiate a transaction. Visa also says each contactless payment generates a transaction-specific, one-time code, which it describes as “extremely effective in reducing counterfeit fraud.” Its consumer guidance characterizes skimming-related fraud in the Visa system as “very unlikely and limited in scope.” See Visa’s Tap to Pay guidance.

  • Stop Digital Theft Instantly: Protect your credit cards, debit cards, passports, and IDs with Cardian’s advanced smart NFC and RFID card blocking technology—keeping hackers and skimmers out of your wallet

This information applies to Visa’s payment system. It is not a SafeCard test and should not be generalized to every card, network, or credential. It also does not mean that all forms of payment fraud or identity theft are prevented.

What an RFID-blocking card can and cannot protect against

Even if a blocker works for a particular radio interaction, that would be a narrow measure: it would not establish protection against phishing, data breaches, physical theft, or other ways financial information can be misused. The sources do not show that SafeCard prevents those risks. Avoid treating an RFID-blocking product as comprehensive identity-theft protection.

What to check before buying SafeCard

  • Look for test details. Seek an independent report that names the tested frequencies, cards or devices, placement, and conditions—not just a general blocking claim.
  • Check current seller terms. The March 2025 release mentioned a 30-day money-back guarantee and bundle prices, but those dated promotional statements do not verify today’s price, availability, or return policy. Confirm current terms directly with the seller before paying.
  • Compare like with like. For a blocker card, sleeve, or wallet, compare documented performance and test conditions, coverage, how protection depends on where cards are kept, fit and convenience, seller identity, current return terms, and price. The available sources do not provide comparable testing that supports ranking products.
  • Keep the claim in proportion. If you choose a blocker, regard it as an optional, narrow radio-blocking measure—not a substitute for monitoring accounts, safeguarding cards, or responding to suspicious activity.

Should you buy SafeCard?

If your decision depends on verified evidence that SafeCard blocks particular cards under defined conditions, the available evidence does not provide it. Consider waiting for independently documented test results or choosing an option whose performance and return terms you can verify. If you buy anyway, base the decision on current written terms and accept that the protection claim remains unverified.
