Afiniti was reported to have a $1.6 billion private-market valuation and to have confidentially filed for an IPO, but the available evidence does not show that it completed a public offering. The valuation refers to financing rounds reported in 2017 and 2018—not a current market value—and later court records describe Afiniti Ltd. in provisional liquidation proceedings.

What did Afiniti do?

Afiniti was described as an applied AI and advanced analytics company. Forge Global’s company profile says its technology looked for patterns in human interactions and paired participants with the aim of improving customer interactions. That is a description of the company’s intended product, not independent proof that it achieved those outcomes. Forge Global’s Afiniti profile.

What did the $1.6 billion valuation mean?

Multiples, a private-company database, reports Afiniti’s 2017 Series C at a $1.6 billion post-money valuation and says the 2018 Series D maintained that valuation. This is a secondary database report, not an audited valuation or a current estimate of what Afiniti is worth. A private-company valuation from a funding round is also not the same thing as a public company’s market capitalization, which is based on the trading price of its shares. Did Afiniti ever go public?

The available record does not establish that Afiniti completed an IPO. A February 2022 analyst briefing summary said Afiniti had previously filed confidentially, but also said management did not expect a listing that year and had not finalized a 2023 plan at that time. The underlying confidential filing and an official filing receipt were not available in the cited material, so the submission’s date and details cannot be confirmed here. A confidential submission or IPO plan is not a completed stock-market listing. February 2022 analyst briefing summary.

What happened to Afiniti afterward?

Later court filings concern Afiniti Ltd. in Bermuda provisional liquidation and a U.S. Chapter 15 recognition case. A February 10, 2025 notice from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware says the court recognized the foreign proceeding and that an approved transfer of assets closed on December 3, 2024. These insolvency proceedings are distinct from an IPO and do not establish that the company ever became publicly traded. U.S. Bankruptcy Court notice filed February 10, 2025.

Who owned Afiniti Ltd.?

In an ownership statement filed November 3, 2024, in the Chapter 15 case, The Resource Group Pakistan was identified as indirectly owning more than 10% of Afiniti Ltd. The statement also said no publicly held U.S. corporation owned 10% or more. This describes ownership disclosed in that proceeding; it is not evidence that Afiniti shares were listed for public trading. Chapter 15 ownership statement filed November 3, 2024.

How to read the reported IPO timeline

Event What the evidence says What it does not establish

By February 2022 An analyst briefing summary reported a prior confidential IPO filing; management did not expect a 2022 listing and had not finalized a 2023 plan at that time. That the IPO filing became public, proceeded to an offering, or resulted in a listing.
December 3, 2024 The Bankruptcy Court notice says an approved asset transfer closed on this date during later proceedings. That Afiniti completed an IPO or that the historic private valuation remained applicable.
