Icelandair Saga Club is the airline’s loyalty program. It keeps two separate balances: Saga Points, which you can spend on eligible travel and services, and Tier Credits, which count toward Silver or Gold status. Understanding that distinction—and the flight-number rules attached to status benefits—is key to knowing what the program can do for you.
How Saga Club works
Members start at Saga Blue. Saga Points are the spendable balance; Tier Credits are used to qualify for status and cannot be redeemed. Icelandair, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue flights can earn both, while some partner activity earns Saga Points without Tier Credits. Icelandair’s Saga Club terms govern eligibility and can change.
How to earn Saga Points and Tier Credits
Flights and packages
Eligible Icelandair flights and holiday packages are earning avenues. Alaska Airlines and JetBlue flights are also listed. For eligible Icelandair flights, the traveler earns credit regardless of who paid, but only qualifying published fares count; unused tickets earn nothing. An upgrade earns according to the originally booked and paid class. Check the earning rules for the particular airline, fare and itinerary before relying on a credit.
Other earning avenues
Icelandair’s current earning page lists onboard refreshments, reward credit cards, Expedia-powered hotel and rental-car bookings, Booking.com stays and cars, GetYourGuide experiences, Sjóvá, BYKO, Olís/ÓB, Flybus, Hertz and Revolut transfers, as well as Alaska Airlines and JetBlue. Claiming missing flight credit
The terms allow qualifying Icelandair flights taken up to 12 months before signup to be credited retroactively. Icelandair says flight points typically post within 48 hours; partner points can take up to 60 days. Keep booking and payment records until the credit appears, and follow the applicable claim process if it does not.

These are Icelandair’s current thresholds in its terms, accessed in 2026. Tier Credits expire individually after 12 months, so qualification depends on credits earned in the relevant rolling period. Credits above the amount required to renew do not roll over. Confirm the current rules before planning a status run.
What do Saga Blue, Silver and Gold include?
Saga Blue
The entry level includes earning and spending Saga Points, member offers, easier booking and a digital membership card.
Saga Silver
Published benefits include lounge access, one extra bag beyond the applicable allowance, priority check-in and boarding, waiting-list priority, a spouse card and one complimentary fare upgrade per year.

Saga Gold
Gold includes lounge, baggage, check-in, waiting-list and boarding benefits, plus fast track at some airports, complimentary onboard Wi-Fi for two devices, three free days of parking at Keflavík, discounted private transfers, an emergency phone number and a spouse card with the same benefits as the main card.
Silver and Gold benefits apply on Icelandair scheduled flights or charter flights carrying an FI flight number. They do not apply when you travel on an Icelandair scheduled service under another airline’s flight number. Verify eligibility for each segment and check the current Saga Club benefits before travel, since benefit details may change.

Icelandair’s terms allow points to cover some or all of the cost of eligible Icelandair flights, hotel stays, rental cars and onboard refreshments, as well as taxes or fees. The terms do not establish a fixed cash value for a Saga Point, so compare the points required with the cash price and any taxes or fees for the specific booking. Award availability and redemption conditions may vary.
When do Saga Points expire?
Saga Points remain valid through the calendar year in which they were earned and the following three calendar years, then expire on December 31. Tier Credits follow a different clock: each expires 12 months after it is earned. Check both balances and their expiry dates rather than treating them as one account total.
